Role and Facility Information
Fraser Health is actively seeking physicians who are interested in joining our hospital medicine program at Langley Memorial Hospital (LMH). Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to establishing a permanent acute care hospital practice and working collaboratively with all members of the inter-professional team, including fellow physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, and Allied Health staff.
Key responsibilities will involve the admission and care management of "unattached" patients as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP), as well as providing supportive care for select surgical and specialty medical patients. Langley Memorial Hospital is a community hospital and fosters a culture of collaborative, inter-professional teamwork. Our hospitalist service at Langley plays a pivotal role in the treatment of approximately 80% of medical inpatients, presenting a diverse and fulfilling caseload.
We are seeking physicians who are passionate about acute care, thrive in a team environment, are dedicated to continuous personal improvement and to improve the care at Langley Memorial Hospital in general. With the implementation of the new Fraser Health Contract, measures have been put in place to ensure reasonable daily workloads and significantly increased compensation. Our scheduling options offer more flexibility, including rounding lines, admission shifts, overnight shifts, and virtual shifts, with support from clinical associates.
In return, we expect our physicians to deliver exceptional inpatient care to meet the needs of Langley's growing population. Collaborative efforts over recent years have led to notable improvements in hospital mortality ratios and length of stay, and we are committed to sustaining this positive trend. If you are intrigued by this opportunity to make a meaningful impact, we encourage you to reach out and explore further.
Eligibility: Candidates must be licensed or (eligible for licensure) with College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) and have either CCFP (or equivalent) or FRCP credentials. Certification in ACLS is strongly suggested. Hospitalist experience, fellowship, and/or membership in professional hospital medicine societies is an asset.
Compensation: We are on the new Fraser Health Hospitalist Contract which pays rates as per PMA plus additional incentives.
Langley Memorial Hospital is a community hospital acute beds offering medical, surgical, obstetrics, pediatrics, psychiatry, critical care, ambulatory care as well as 24/7 emergency services with 58, 0000 visits annually.
Fraser Health is the heart of health care for over two million people in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley in British Columbia, Canada, on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations and is home to 32 First Nations within the Fraser Salish region.
People - those we care for and those who care for them - are at the heart of everything we do. Our hospital and community-based services are delivered by a team of 48,000+ staff, medical staff and volunteers.
We are committed to planetary health and value diversity in the work force. We strive to maintain an environment of respect, caring and trust. Fraser Health’s hiring practices aspire to ensure all individuals are treated in an inclusive, equitable and culturally safe manner.
Together, we are the heart of health care.
