Role and Facility Information
Fraser Health is seeking physicians interested in working at Burnaby Hospital. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible to provide services including admission and management as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP) for otherwise unattached patients, as well as supportive care for surgical, medical specialty and psychiatric patients. The Hospitalist Program at Burnaby is a well-established program with physicians who are committed to providing the highest quality of care to our patients. Burnaby Hospital is a community hospital, committed to a culture of collaborative, inter-professional team-based care.
Applicants should have a desire and ability to work collaboratively with all members of the inter-professional team, including other physicians, Nurses, and Allied Health staff. The candidate requires excellent clinical and communication skills. Collegiality, enthusiasm, flexibility, and a willingness to learn, improve and adapt are important qualities. Experience in Hospitalist work is an asset, although not necessary. Interest in quality improvement and leadership is an asset. The work is rotated equally among members of the group and will include contributions to committee and administrative work. Intake shifts in ER, evenings, weekend and night shifts are mandatory and are shared equally. Continuity of care is important, and weekend work is approximately 1 in 3.
The preference is for this role to be full-time, although part-time opportunities may be available.
To apply: Please forward letters of interest, a copy of your CV and three contact referee names.
Compensation: The current contract pays $200.10/hr. Fulltime work is considered a minimum of 1680 hours of work annually.
Burnaby General Hospital is a 314-bed hospital in Burnaby, BC, offering medical, surgical, obstetrical, geriatric, palliative, oncology, psychiatric and ICU services as well as 24/7 emergency services with after-hours emergency surgery.
Qualifications:
Fraser Health is the heart of health care for over two million people in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley in British Columbia, Canada, on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations and is home to 32 First Nations within the Fraser Salish region.
People - those we care for and those who care for them - are at the heart of everything we do. Our hospital and community-based services are delivered by a team of 50,000+ staff, medical staff and volunteers.
We are committed to planetary health and value diversity in the work force. We strive to maintain an environment of respect, caring and trust. Fraser Health’s hiring practices aspire to ensure all individuals are treated in an inclusive, equitable and culturally safe manner.
Together, we are the heart of health care.
