KEY FUNCTION:
Provide efficient and confidential scheduling support to the department, while ensuring day to day clerical work is carried out.

REPORTING:
Under the general direction of the Coordinator, Sudbury Breast Screening and Assessment Service.

DUTIES:
1. Register patients and schedule appointments using Community Wide Scheduling (CWS) program.
2. Answer and screen phone calls; relay messages and provide general information as required.

Type, photocopy and fax routine correspondence.
Process patient report sheets for respective tests.
Retrieve, file, and index patient reports and documentation.

Maintain files and complete various forms (e.g. shipping orders and purchase requisitions).
Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
Contribute to learner development by providing academic support, mentorship, preceptorship and supervision as required.

Participate in hospital training as required.
Assist with improvement initiatives as required.
Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
1. Minimum of a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent (i.e. General Education Development (GED) or Academic and Career Entrance (ACE)).

Post-secondary education is preferred.
Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

EXPERIENCE:
1. Six (6) months recent relevant experience is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
1. Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in Medical Terminology.
2. Demonstrated ability to type a minimum of 50 words per minute.

Demonstrated proficiency in data entry.
Demonstrated computer skills with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, and Outlook) and applicable patient information systems (e.g. Meditech Expanse and the Integrated Client Management System (ICMS)).
Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with patients, families, and healthcare workers.

Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks.
Demonstrated compliance with HSN’s privacy policy.

Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.

PERSONAL SUITABILITY:
1. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
2. Demonstrated professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.

Demonstrated positive work record and good attendance record.
