Logistics Operations Coordinator / Senior-Level Opportunity
Hecny Canada | Vancouver area, British Columbia, Canada
Commercial Team | Reporting to the Commercial Manager
Employment: Full-time | Workplace: On-site
About the opportunity
Hecny Canada is seeking a hands-on logistics operations professional to coordinate international and domestic shipments, ocean freight import/export, trucking, warehousing and distribution. The role connects customers, overseas agents, carriers, trucking companies, customs providers, warehouses and internal teams to keep shipments accurate, timely and well documented.
The position level is flexible. Experienced professionals may be considered for a senior-level position, with the final title and responsibilities aligned to relevant experience and mutual fit. A senior title does not automatically imply people-management responsibilities. More experienced candidates are welcome; there is no upper experience limit.
Compensation & Position Level
Annual base salary (CAD), based on the level at which the candidate is hired:
- Junior Coordinator: CAD $48,000–$55,000 per year.
- Senior Logistics Specialist: CAD $75,000–$85,000 per year.
The final position level and base salary within the applicable band will be determined by relevant experience, demonstrated capabilities and the agreed scope of responsibilities. Senior-level candidates remain welcome; a senior title does not automatically imply people-management responsibilities.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate ocean import and export shipments, including bookings, vessel schedules, documentation, customs-status follow-up, pickup and delivery arrangements.
- Coordinate domestic and Canada–USA cross-border trucking requests, appointments, equipment requirements and shipment tracking.
- Arrange cargo inbound/outbound movements, warehouse coordination and last-mile deliveries; maintain accurate WMS inventory and cargo-movement records.
- Maintain complete shipment files and accurate operational-system records, shipping documents, schedules and correspondence.
- Verify operational charges against agreed rates, resolve discrepancies and prepare supporting information for timely billing.
- Provide proactive shipment updates, respond to customers and partners, and follow exceptions through to resolution.
- Escalate significant delays, service issues, unresolved costs and matters requiring commercial approval to the Commercial Manager.
Qualifications and skills
- Working knowledge of ocean freight import/export, warehousing and distribution operations.
- Working English and either Mandarin or Cantonese for day-to-day business communication; both Chinese languages are not required.
- 2+ years of freight forwarding, logistics, transportation or related operations experience preferred. More experienced and senior-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of domestic and Canada–USA cross-border trucking is an asset.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, customer service, communication and follow-through.
- Ability to coordinate multiple shipments and priorities and work with overseas agents across time zones.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel; freight forwarding or transportation management system experience is preferred.
