Original job description

Build your career with a Canadian company that builds careers in Canada.

Hercules Group of Companies is Canadian owned and operated, with teams and operations across the country. We support some of Canada's most important industries through lifting and rigging, crane services, industrial supply, inspection, NDT, machining, fabrication, training and other specialized services.

We're looking for a full-time Rigger Technician to join our Continental Chain & Rigging Branch in Red Deer Alberta.

If you're mechanically inclined, dependable and ready to learn a skilled trade, we'll provide the training and support to help you build your expertise. And because Hercules is more than one branch or one line of business, this can be more than your next job. It can be the start of a long-term career with opportunities to develop your skills, take on greater responsibility, and explore opportunities across our branches and divisions as you grow.

Why build your career with HGC?

Canadian owned. National opportunities: We're proudly Canadian owned and operated, with teams serving customers and industries across Canada.
A diverse group of businesses: Our operations span lifting and rigging, crane services, inspections, industrial supply, NDT, machining, fabrication, training and more - creating exposure to different skills, industries and career paths.
We invest in our people: We provide ongoing training and development beyond your initial onboarding so you can continue building your technical knowledge and capabilities.
Room to grow: We believe in developing our people and promoting from within wherever possible. As Hercules grows, employees can pursue opportunities within their branch, another location, or across our broader group of companies.
Work that matters: Our teams help keep Canadian industry operating safely and productively. The work you do here has a purpose.

What you'll do

Measure and build wire rope and chain slings to exact customer specifications while meeting quality and manufacturing standards
Install winch cable onto bed trucks with precision and care
Read and interpret drawings, measurements and fabrication instructions - full training is provided
Operate hydraulic presses and accurately use measuring equipment as part of your daily work
Work confidently with tools and equipment including grinders, cut-off saws, cutting torches and spoolers
Properly tag outgoing products and shipments to ensure accurate customer fulfillment
Monitor wire rope inventory, communicate when materials are running low, receive incoming supplies and document material usage
Support other areas of the shop when needed and contribute to a collaborative, team-focused workplace

What you'll bring

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a busy shop environment
Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, equipment and hands-on fabrication tasks
Dependability and punctuality
Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
Basic math skills and the ability to accurately read a tape measure
Good organizational skills
A valid Class 5 driver's licence
Legal entitlement to work in Canada; immigration or Permanent Residency sponsorship is not available for this position

Experience is an asset, but potential matters too. Previous rigging, fabrication, oil and gas, crane, mechanical, manufacturing or warehouse experience is an asset, but previous rigging experience is not required.

If you have the mechanical aptitude, work ethic and willingness to learn, we'll teach you the technical skills required to succeed.

First Aid and forklift certifications are also assets but are not required at the time of hire.

What we offer

Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications
Registered Pension Plan (RPP) with 5% employer matching after one year
Comprehensive health and dental benefits with shared costs
Consistent Monday-to-Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. schedule
Ongoing technical and professional training
A safety-focused and supportive work environment
Opportunities to build your skills and advance within Hercules
Potential career opportunities across our branches, business units and divisions
The opportunity to build a long-term career with an established Canadian-owned organization

One company. Many career paths.

A job at Hercules can be the beginning of something much bigger. Across the Hercules Group of Companies, our people work in rigging, inspections, crane service, NDT, machining, fabrication, industrial sales, operations, training, warehousing, supply chain, leadership and corporate services. You may join us for one position, but as your skills and career grow, there may be opportunities to grow with us too.

If you're looking for more than your next job and want the opportunity to build skills, establish a career and grow with a Canadian company, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply today.

Successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal background check as a condition of employment.
