Original job description

Company Overview

hermeneutic research is a best-in-class proprietary trading firm. It deploys research-driven discretionary and systematic strategies as well as makes strategic long-term investments. The partners' decade-long history of success in trading and business building and a firm-wide cultural emphasis on alpha generation, open debate, relentless iteration, and teamwork are key to the firm's continued expansion in a challenging market environment that has hamstrung competitors. A hard-wired emphasis on risk management and opportunistic market participation ensure that hermeneutic Investments will continue its growth trajectory in the coming decades.

Job Overview

We're looking for someone who notices the discrepancy nobody else caught, takes genuine pride in getting the details right, and still wants to be close to the action in one of the most fast-moving corners of financial markets.

This is a hands-on operations role at a crypto-native hedge fund. You'll be a core part of the team responsible for executing our operational workflows - trade lifecycle, digital asset operations, reconciliations, and more. If you're someone who finds disorder genuinely uncomfortable but thrives in an environment where the markets never stop, this role is for you.

You'll report into the COO team and work closely with trading, technology, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Crypto Operations:

Execute wallet management workflows across hot, cold, and MPC custody solutions
Monitor and document staking, bridging, and smart contract interactions
Own trade lifecycle processes: trade capture, margin tracking, settlements, and reconciliation
Support operational security processes and escalate issues as needed

Middle & Back Office Operations:

Execute post-trade processes including daily reconciliations, margin management, collateral monitoring, and trade settlements
Maintain data accuracy across fund admin, prime broker, and custody partners - and push back when something doesn't add up
Own internal dashboards, operational reporting, and procedure documentation

Operational Execution:

Execute core business operations including compliance procedures and vendor coordination
Keep workflows humming between research, trading, compliance, and technology teams
Spot inefficiencies and drive process improvement and automation initiatives
Track and report on operational KPIs and process metrics

Technology & Infrastructure Support:

Liaise with engineering on system monitoring and incident documentation
Support business continuity testing and documentation
Help implement and maintain middle/back office technology platforms

Requirements

5-7 years in operations at a hedge fund, trading firm, or crypto financial services business
Direct experience with digital asset operations - custody, settlements, DeFi workflows - strongly preferred
Meticulous attention to detail; you're the person who spots the error in row 847 of a spreadsheet
Comfortable in fast-paced, high-stakes environments where things move quickly and priorities shift
Structured thinker who can manage multiple workstreams without dropping the ball
Strong communicator - clear, direct, and proactive across teams
Exposure to exchange or counterparty operations a bonus
Bachelor's degree required; finance, technical, or business education preferred

Interview Process

After you apply, you can expect the following interview process:

CV Screening - We will review your application based on the qualifications and experience outlined above
HR Interview - If further clarification is needed, a brief call may be scheduled to better understand your background
Technical Interview - Interviews with multiple stakeholder teams to assess your skill set and cross-functional collaboration
Hiring Manager Interview - To gain a deeper understanding of your experience, overall skill set, and cultural fit
Co-Founder Interview - A concluding discussion to evaluate cultural fit, strategic alignment, and how you resonate with the firm's values

Throughout the process, you'll be assessed for cultural fit through our company values:

Drive - We believe the best team members are deeply passionate about what they do. That passion fuels their growth, drives them to seek out the best teams, and leads them to hold high expectations of themselves in pursuit of excellence
Ownership - We aim to extend ownership as broadly as possible across the firm. In return, we value people who take initiative, step up when needed, and treat the company's goals as their own
Judgment - We value those who see the big picture and focus on what truly drives impact and results. They use time wisely, adapt across domains, and always prioritize outcomes over comfort zones
Openness - We foster a culture of open communication, mutual challenge, and shared growth. We believe constructive debate and proactive knowledge sharing lead us closer to the truth - and better decisions
Competence - We work with people who bring exceptional intellectual strength. What sets them apart isn't just what they know - it's how they use what they know to navigate change, adapt quickly, and contribute meaningfully in fast-changing environments
Resilience - We perform under pressure. Markets move fast, and so do we - but we stay grounded, focused, and calm. We embrace uncertainty, learn from setbacks, and adapt quickly without losing sight of long-term goals
