Basic Function

Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. (PCLI), an HF Sinclair company is seeking a full-time Global Marketing Category Manager. The Category Manager, reporting to the Manager, Business Segments will be responsible for execution and implementation of the defined segment strategies and associated projects, leading the product lifecycle / management process and driving alignment amongst key stakeholders to deliver the most value for our customers, distributors and the organization. The Category Manager role requires a blend of project management skills, stakeholder management skills, creativity, analytical skills, and a strong understanding of the specific products in their categories.

The Category Manager will be also be responsible to assist in insuring the consistent and disciplined execution of the marketing management processes including: supporting the management system and corporate governance processes (IMS Policy, IATF and ISO), assisting in the management of the entire lifecycle of product SKUs in the product portfolio. The Category Manager will assist in the development of segment plans and related marketing materials / events / programs in order to deliver the most value for our customers, distributors, associates and organization.

The Category Manager will also support internal and external audit activities in addition to managing the Speed to Market process for their respective product areas.

Job Duties

Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape within the assigned category and analyze data to understand market dynamics, consumer behavior, and industry developments

Manage annual marketing category volumes and margin planning and 5-year plans
Lead and manage execution of commercial tasks to support Manager, Business segments
Managing, tracking and reporting progress of core activities from initiation through to field execution
Assist in the stewardship of the PLM process
Lead product line performance and SKU rationalization activities including reporting business results
Coordinates regular reviews for SKU Optimization and Product Lifecycle

Devise and execute promotional campaigns to increase product awareness, drive sales, and enhance brand visibility
Develop a sound data set (Market Mapping) for their segments

Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers within the category
Work with procurement to Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to ensure favorable agreements for the company

Develop and deliver with the assistance of the category specialist training / webinars, Sales Enablement materials, Packaging and Labelling design

Assists market mapping and data insight
Supports relevant Campaigns in their segments / categories

Assist in development of agency briefs to outline expectations and requirements for creative materials

Support Segment / Category budgeting and tracking

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

Experience

5+ years of related B2B Marketing or Product/Category Management experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Project Management Skills
Experience in B2B marketing
Knowledge of the lubricants and/or specialty products businesses and product lines
Experience of CRM and Marketing Automation (SalesForce / Pardot) and sales enablement

Education Level

A Bachelors degree in Marketing or a related field or, a combination of education and work experience may be considered

Required Skills

Strategic Mindset: able to align business objectives and plans to business strategies, customer needs and brand. Lead product development both globally and regionally to analyze a business challenge and develop an appropriate strategy.
Category/Segment Management Discipline: Experience and working knowledge of Category Management processes and relevant stakeholders to Effectively plan, develop and manage execution of a product category line
Product Management Experience - Managing product lifecycle from initial development to product exit.
Marketing aptitude - (i.e., pricing, promotions/advertising, supplier management) - understands the direct, distributors and associates sales environment; to identify significant competitive issues such as product, technology issues which may impact on the product categories.
Market Intelligence – proven experience in scanning product & market and leveraging relationships to understand market and consumer trends. To map market analysis and product line profitability analysis.
Relationship Building Skills - ability to form partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. With effective communication and presentation skills.
People & Stakeholder Management - Experience in managing people and/or teams and influencing stakeholders (internal and external), both globally and on a regional level.
A unique blend of business (commercial and financial) and technical savvy to recognize new opportunities, prioritize based on financial assessment, define the commercial development strategy and deliver on the tools to achieve success
A big picture visionary and the drive to make that vision reality.
Comfortable making decisions based on both facts and judgement
The ability to take technical information and translate it into terms that our existing and potential customers will easily understand

Work Conditions

This is an office based role Monday through Thursday with a work from home option on Fridays
Some business travel may be required
