Original job description

Take the next step in your property accounting career with an established property management organization offering a diverse portfolio and a collaborative team environment.

Your New Employer

Our client is an established property management company with a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, retail, and mixed-use properties. With a strong focus on client service, financial transparency, and operational excellence, the organization has built a collaborative team environment where employees are encouraged to contribute ideas, take ownership of their work, and develop professionally.

The company is seeking a Property Accountant to join its finance team and play an important role in supporting the financial performance of its managed properties.

Your New Role

Reporting to the Accounting Manager and working closely with the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of properties. You will collaborate with Property Managers, senior leadership, and clients to ensure accurate financial information, maintain strong internal controls, and support informed business decisions.

Your responsibilities will include preparing monthly and annual financial statements, completing general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. You will manage common area maintenance (CAM) and property tax recoveries, analyze budget variances, monitor cash flows, and assist with annual budgets and forecasts. You will also support property onboarding, lease administration, rent roll reviews, tenant reconciliations, and accounts receivable and payable activities. Additionally, you will process owner distributions and mortgage payments, assist with tax filings and audits, and work closely with property management teams to address financial inquiries.

What Sets You Apart

You are a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive accounting professional with 2–3 years of property accounting experience, ideally supporting commercial, residential, or mixed-use portfolios. You have a strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and year-end CAM reconciliations, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

You hold a post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA designation is considered an asset, although a combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered. You are proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with property management accounting software, ideally Entrata or Yardi Voyager. You bring strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients. Your professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy allow you to build trust and contribute meaningfully to the team.

What You Can Expect

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and supportive property management organization where you can take ownership of your portfolio while continuing to develop your accounting expertise.

The organization offers competitive compensation and benefits, opportunities for professional development and career advancement, and a team-oriented environment that values work-life balance. Employees also enjoy a business casual workplace and a culture that encourages collaboration, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
