About Hooper Welding
Hooper Welding Enterprises is an owner-led fabrication company with plants in Oakville and Hamilton, Ontario. In Oakville, our teams fabricate, machine, weld and assemble heavy metal components for the nuclear industry, where precision, quality and safety come first.
The Role
As Manufacturing Supervisor, you will lead the shop floor at our Oakville plant. You will turn drawings, welding procedures and schedules into a clear weekly and monthly plan, put the right people, materials and consumables in place, and deliver each project on time and to specification.
You will report to the Plant Manager and work closely with the Vice President of Production, the Director of Engineering and other key leaders. This is a new position, created to help us manage our growth.
What You Will Do
- Review fabrication drawings, welding procedures and schedules with your team to understand project and customer requirements and target dates.
- Build weekly and monthly production schedules and workforce plans, and manage multiple projects at once.
- Confirm materials and the bill of materials (BOM) in advance, and prioritize people, resources and consumables to meet on-time delivery.
- Assign fit-up, welding, machining and assembly work based on each person’s skills and qualifications.
- Coordinate with procurement, engineering and subcontractors for critical machining, heat treatment and painting.
- Lead safe, quality work in line with the Ontario OHSA, ASME Section III and IX, and a strong nuclear safety culture (SCWE).
- Drive Lean improvements, capture lessons learned, and train new team members.
What You Bring
- Five years of hands-on experience in heavy industrial settings (machining, welding or complex metal fabrication), including two or more years as a supervisor, foreman or manufacturing leader.
- Deep knowledge of ASME Section III (Nuclear Components Code) and Section IX (Welding Qualifications).
- Ability to read complex engineering drawings and GD&T, with mastery of high-precision heavy machining, CNC programming troubleshooting and multi-process welding.
- Proficiency in CAD software and project scheduling software.
- Ability to work some overtime and to be on your feet for periods of time throughout the day.
Nice to Have
- A four-year bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Experience in nuclear supply chain manufacturing and SCWE programs.
- Lean manufacturing training or certification.
Why Hooper Welding
- A competitive salary + health benefits, vacation, RRSP, bonus, + other compensations
- A new leadership role in a growing, owner-led company.
- Work that matters: precision components for the nuclear industry.
