Original job description

A career at Horizon is for people who want hard problems and a clear purpose. We are building a hybrid-electric eVTOL aircraft, and we are taking our design from demonstrator to certified aircraft. Few engineers get to say they helped bring a new kind of aircraft into the world. Here, you will.

We are growing, and growth brings structure: clear processes, defined roles and room to specialise. We keep the hands-on approach and the pace of a small team. You will own real work, see your decisions take shape on the aircraft, and work beside the people who make them.

What we do here is hard. We support each other through the tough stretches, and we hold each other to a high standard. The work you do now will shape how people travel for decades. If you want your career to count for something, and to leave work behind you are proud of, you will fit here.

What we need you to bring.

Horizon is seeking an open, enthusiastic, experienced Process and Engineering Capabilities Analyst. Your role will be to architect, define, document and mature the Engineering, Manufacturing, Assembly and Quality processes of the organization. You will turn engineering intent and shop-floor know-how into controlled, auditable process specifications and work instructions, and build the capability records that show regulators and customers we can produce conforming aircraft every time.

Your Day- To-Day

Architect the high-level process landscapes of the Business Management System / Quality Management System that will support the growth of the organization and progress towards a DAO
Author, review and maintain Policies, Processes, Guidance Material, Job Guides, and Methods for all disciplines of engineering and production
Write and maintain Quality Management System procedures aligned with AS9100D and Transport Canada requirements.
Manage document change through the configuration management process, including revision control, impact assessment and training sign-off.
Build and maintain the company capabilities list: processes, equipment, tooling, skills and approved special processes.
Lead process qualification and validation
Assess new processes, equipment and suppliers for capability gaps, and work to close them
Maintain training and skills matrices so that only qualified personnel perform controlled processes
Ensure processes meet applicable standards such as NADCAP special-process criteria, IPC/WHMA-A-620, SAE AS5553 etc
Lead root-cause analysis (9S) and update processes and controls accordingly
Drive standardization, error-proofing and digital work-instruction adoption.

Qualifications

As we’re a small team, there is significant scope for you to advance your career and learn about adjacent disciplines. We are looking for people that will have the following qualifications and experiences:

Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Systems, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, or with equivalent experience
3+ years in aerospace engineering or quality, writing controlled process documentation or work instructions
Working knowledge of AS9100 quality systems, configuration control and first article inspection (AS9102)
Excellent technical writing: clear, concise and unambiguous for technicians on the floor
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PLM systems
Eligible to work in Canada and to access controlled goods and export-controlled technical data (Controlled Goods Program, ITAR/EAR).

About Your Future Team.

You will join a team of engineers who solve problems no one has solved before. Many of them work across disciplines, and all of them care about getting this aircraft certified and flying. The culture is open and honest. People say what they think, ask for help early, and back each other up. We work hard, we enjoy the work, and we put family first. Your life outside Horizon matters, and we plan the work with that in mind.

Our Benefits.

People are the heart of our success, and we like to provide transparency in the way we operate. This is why our benefits are beyond the normal, and we are constantly trying to improve these further.

No Holiday Cap
Hybrid Work Options
Company Paid Group Benefits Plan
Company Stock Matching Program
Health Spending Account
Equity Awards

This is an incredible opportunity to be at the forefront of a ground-breaking industry and work with a dynamic and innovative team. We offer a competitive salary, and the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting aerospace projects of our time.

If you have a passion for aerospace and eVTOL, and want to work on challenging and rewarding projects, please apply today!

Location.

We are located just outside of Lindsay, in the Kawartha Lakes area of Ontario, Canada. We also have offices in Ottawa and Montreal. Our team is onsite at our facility, as a group, a minimum of two days per week. This role is preferred to be in Ottawa, and we offer relocation allowances in appropriate cases.

Not Quite Your Profile?

We would love for you to apply even if you have not met all the experience listed in this advert. We understand everyone’s career is unique and we welcome opportunities to broaden our knowledge in an open, diverse and inclusive way.
