Summary:
The Electrical Drafter/Designer will be relied on to support Westech's panels and integrated projects. This role will work in a team and will be responsible for preparing drawings, design, and cost estimates as defined in the client's RFQ packages. Additionally, the position requires a demonstration of safe and quality minded work ethic consistent with company goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Ability to execute 2D and 3D drafting schematics
- Understand electrical design for industrial applications including industrial control panels, load calculations, cable sizing, power distribution, heat tracing, equipment specification, area classification, instrumentation, and control.
- Estimate the cost of materials, labor and assembly
- Analyze client specifications, electrical schematics and project drawings.
- Collaborate with Panel Technicians, Electricians, Instrumentation Specialists, Technical Leads, Project Managers, Document Controller and other interested parties to ensure the work output meets project deliverables and customers’ expectations.
- Select appropriate electrical components based on project requirements and cost.
- Understand the Canadian Electrical Code, Industrial Control Panels and Assemblies Standards and other applicable industry standards.
- Understand Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs).
- Understand and comply with QA/QC requirements and client’s standards and procedures.
- Demonstrate excellent time management ability for meeting all related drawing/design/estimates’ schedules and deliverables
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
- Diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution in Electrical Design and/or drafting.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with AutoCad 2D and 3D.
- SolidWorks experience is an asset.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Teams.
- Self-motivated and able to function independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced team environment.
- Possess above average English written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess a valid driving license and favorable drivers abstract.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment with frequent visits to the manufacturing shop, where personal protection equipment and adherence to a strong safety ethic are required.
- Some lifting and manual labour are required.
- Travel and perform work at client sites on occasion.
- Client site visits may involve less than favourable temperatures and/or environmental conditions.
- This position is subject to on the job scheduled, for cause, and random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of our client requirements as well as Westech’s Health & Safety policies.
