Original job description

Company Description

The House of Commons Administration delivers outstanding services to Members of Parliament and their employees in support of parliamentary democracy. Our success is made possible by our talented and dedicated workforce. We leverage diversity in all its forms and recognize that everyone has valuable contributions to make and the potential for individual growth. If you dream of joining an organization that is small enough for you to be noticed, but big enough to provide you with a meaningful career, then we want to hear from you!

Job Description

The House of Commons’ Digital Services and Real Property is currently looking to staff the Security Systems Technician position.

This position is full time on site five (5) days per week.

As a Security Systems Technician, you will work in a product-centric environment as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and installing electronic physical security and connected systems across the Parliamentary Precinct. Your work will support a wide range of technologies, including video, audio, security, control, and other integrated building systems.

You will provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 client support, responding to service requests, performing preventative maintenance, and resolving urgent technical issues to ensure systems remain reliable and operational. You will also contribute to the implementation, testing, documentation, and ongoing support of enterprise-level building and security solutions

In this role, you will work closely with partners such as the Senate, the House of Commons’ Sergeant-at-Arms, and the Parliamentary Protective Service, supporting both day-to-day operations and large-scale renovation projects, including work in heritage buildings. You will follow established standards and best practices while contributing to continuous improvement of systems and support processes

This role requires flexibility to work outside regular hours, including evenings, weekends, shifts, and on-call as system support, maintenance and upgrades are often performed outside of business operations.

Top Reasons to Join the Physical Security Systems Team:
You will work at the heart of Canadian democracy, supporting systems that help keep Parliament safe and operational. This role offers meaningful, hands-on technical work in a complex and high-profile environment. You will be part of a collaborative and inclusive team that values learning, professionalism, and shared success.

Training and development opportunities.
