Work Model: Hybrid - four days in office, Fridays remote
Vacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy
Looking for a role where your organizational skills can make a real difference?
What if your next career move gave you the opportunity to build valuable experience, work with industry leaders and contribute to programs that support a more sustainable future?
At the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI), that is exactly what you can do!
We are a national not-for-profit trade association representing Canada's heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) industry. For over 50 years, we have been bringing together manufacturers, wholesalers, contractors and industry professionals to help shape the future of an industry that impacts Canadians every day.
And we are still growing!
We are looking for a Program Coordinator – Environmental Services to join our team and help support environmental stewardship initiatives, including Refrigerant Management Canada and the Thermostat Recovery Program.
In this role, you will work closely with our Manager, Environmental Services, helping coordinate programs that support responsible refrigerant management, recycling and environmental sustainability. You will connect with industry partners, support reporting and compliance activities, and help keep important programs running smoothly.
The best part? You do not need to be an environmental expert or know anything about the HVACR industry to get started!
If you are organized, enjoy working with people, have a knack for keeping things on track and are interested in learning something new, we would love to hear from you.
This is a great opportunity to grow your career, develop new skills and be part of work that has a meaningful environmental impact.
What You Will Be Doing
No two days will look exactly the same! You will have the opportunity to get involved in a variety of activities, including:
- Keeping programs running smoothly: Coordinate day-to-day activities, maintain program records, manage documentation and keep track of important deadlines
- Connecting with people: Be a point of contact for members, contractors, manufacturers, collection depots and other program partners, helping answer questions and provide support
- Supporting environmental initiatives: Help deliver programs focused on responsible refrigerant management, recycling and environmental stewardship
- Working with data: Maintain databases, track program activities and assist with reporting, compliance documentation and annual audits
- Collaborating with industry partners: Support communications and relationships with government agencies, industry organizations, committees and other stakeholders
- Supporting planning and reporting: Assist with annual program plans, provincial reporting, budget tracking and preparation
- Getting involved: Participate in meetings, industry events, outreach activities and educational initiatives
- Making things better: Bring forward ideas to improve processes, communications and the overall experience for program participants
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is curious, dependable, detail-oriented and enjoys bringing organization to a busy environment.
Ideally, you bring:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in business administration, environmental studies, sustainability or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1–3 years of experience in coordination, administration, project support, customer or stakeholder service, or a similar role
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities without losing sight of the details
- A friendly, professional communication style and a genuine interest in helping others
- Confidence working with spreadsheets, databases, reports and documentation
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn
- The ability to work independently while also enjoying being part of a collaborative team
Bonus points if you have experience with:
- Environmental programs, sustainability or compliance
- Trade associations or not-for-profit organizations
- Member services or stakeholder relations
- Government or industry partnerships
- Database management or program reporting
Do not check every box? That is okay! We recognize that great candidates bring different experiences and strengths. If this role interests you and you have strong coordination skills and a willingness to learn, we encourage you to apply.
