Ready to build the next generation of our electronic trading platform?

Why HSBC

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world. Guided by our purpose of opening up a world of opportunity, our ambition is to become the world’s most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.

The Opportunity

HSBC Equities Technology is investing heavily in its front office electronic trading platform and this role helps translate that investment into a scalable, extensible and high-performing global platform. As a Full Stack Engineer within Cash & Electronic, you will design and deliver enhancements that support low-latency trading and real-time workflows. You will work in a highly automated engineering environment and build for a containerized runtime. The role spans build, run and continuous optimization, improving reliability, performance and developer efficiency. You will collaborate with engineers across time zones while keeping delivery and support running smoothly. Success means measurable platform improvements, reduced toil through automation and robust changes delivered safely into production.

What you'll be doing

Design, implement and deploy enhancements to HSBC’s electronic trading platform
Build scalable and high-performing capabilities for a global front office environment
Oversee support and optimization of the services you and your colleagues deliver
Partner with software engineers across time zones to deliver consistently and quickly
Reduce toil and repetitive tasks by automating engineering and operational workflows
Apply data-driven techniques to tune performance and improve runtime behavior
Strengthen engineering workflows through high levels of automation and repeatability
Improve platform stability through effective problem-solving and production debugging

What we're looking for

Bring substantial hands-on software engineering experience in low-latency or real-time systems
Demonstrate excellent Java capability, including concurrency, performance tuning and memory management
Apply strong problem-solving and debugging skills in complex production environments
Use Linux or UNIX command-line tooling effectively in day-to-day engineering work
Deliver effectively in highly automated software development workflows
Work confidently with containerized runtime environments
Collaborate smoothly with engineers working online and offline across time zones
Apply automation to remove repetitive tasks and improve how teams operate

Building Global Trading Technology

If you want your work to have visible impact where performance and reliability matter every day, this role offers meaningful scope. You will help evolve a front office electronic trading platform and deliver changes that scale globally. You will also help shape how the team builds and runs software by increasing automation and reducing operational friction. If this aligns with the engineering environment you want to be part of, we would like to hear from you.
