Job Description

Introduction

We are HUB International's MGA and Delegated Underwriting Authority Enterprise (DUAE) division - insurance entrepreneurs united by a bold vision: to aggregate strengths and deliver unmatched value as Canada's largest DUAE.

We exist to satisfy insurance needs in our target markets faster, better, and even where others can't. We do this by consolidating the best underwriting talent and specialty expertise within one coast-to-coast division, delivering speed, service, and solutions at a national scale.

But what truly sets us apart is our people. Here, you will be part of a collaborative, growing team that values innovation, professional development, and shared success. Our culture is built on entrepreneurial thinking, open communication, and a strong sense of purpose. We believe in empowering our employees to take ownership, contribute ideas, and grow their careers within a supportive and dynamic environment.

Together, we are building more than a market leader - we are building a place where talented professionals can thrive.

Manage, strengthen, and grow a book of profitable business by pursuing production targets, soliciting new business, and identifying opportunities for growth

Ensure compliance with internal underwriting guidelines, delegated authority parameters, and the terms of various domestic and Lloyd's carrier agreements

Prepare and submit formal referral documentation to carriers, including Lloyd's markets, ensuring clarity, completeness, and alignment with underwriting strategy

Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders through broker visits, industry events, conferences, and networking

Contribute to product knowledge and development by identifying market opportunities and collaborating with management to enhance offerings and deliver tailored solutions

Support in leading a team of underwriters, handling complex risks and escalations, and mentoring junior team members to promote development and knowledge transfer

Think strategically, set actionable objectives, and implement plans consistent with long-term business goals and underwriting profitability

Take ownership of work-related activities, follow through on commitments, and take personal responsibility for learning and implementing new ideas, methods, and technologies

Deal effectively with pressure, maintain a positive outlook, and recover quickly from setbacks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Document assigned files ensuring completeness, compliance, and quality standards, supporting a paperless environment by uploading documents to company software

Complete loss reports and post-claim underwriting reviews to inform future risk selection and contribute to portfolio performance

Lead business development meetings with brokers to strengthen relationships and prospect for new opportunities

Attend industry events such as broker conventions, seminars, and networking functions

Travel occasionally (up to 25%) for broker meetings and events
