Purpose of Role:

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely execution of day-to-day payroll activities.

Role Accountabilities:

Payroll Processing & Administration

Execute full-cycle regular and off-cycle payroll accurately and on schedule.
Gather, review, and input payroll data into SAP/SF, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, overtime, bonuses, deductions, taxable benefits, and leaves of absence.
Verify pre-payroll calculations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve variances prior to final processing.
Prepare and compile payroll registers, sign-off sheets, and supporting reconciliation files for Manager, Payroll review and approval.
Maintain accurate supporting documentation for all payroll transactions, adjustments, and audit trails.

Benefits & Pension Administration

Process benefits and pension enrollments for new hires within specified deadlines.
Provide administrative support and system entry for employee life event changes.
Perform quarterly reconciliations for pension and benefit programs to ensure data and financial alignment.

Compliance & Year-End Activities

Issue Records of Employment in compliance with Service Canada deadlines for leaves, medical absences, or terminations.
Support annual year-end payroll processes, including T4/T4A balancing, taxable benefit reconciliations, and filings.
Assist the Manager, Payroll during internal and external payroll audit processes.
Prepare and maintain annual Payroll Processing Calendars and scheduling timelines.

Records & Documentation Management

Manage the Payroll Corporate Inbox, ensuring incoming inquiries, input files, and invoices are categorized, tracked, and actioned.
Scan and digitize physical records in accordance with organizational file structures and document retention policies.
Archive or securely dispose of physical and electronic files in compliance with statutory retention timelines and corporate policy.
Log and track taxation and professional service invoices in the master tracking ledger.

Performance & Quality Standards

Ensure all payroll procedures comply strictly with federal and provincial employment standards, tax legislation, and corporate policies.
Uphold strict confidentiality regarding all employee payroll, financial, and personal information.
Deliver accurate payroll metrics and documentation within established processing deadlines

Qualifications:

Minimum 2-3 years of end-to-end payroll processing.
Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, statutory requirements (CRA, Revenue Québec, Service Canada), and provincial employment standards
Strong Microsoft skills, especially Excel (Pivot lookup)
Experience with SAP Payroll is an asset.
Have or be pursuing certification as a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) recognized by the National Payroll Institute (formerly Canadian Payroll Association) is an asset.

Other skills:

Knowing Spanish is an asset
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with payroll and financial information.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Compensation

Expected Compensation: Base salary $65 - $80 CAD per year.
The opportunity to work out of our Platinum Class A and Platinum BOMA BEST® Certified office building in Toronto’s South Core Business District conveniently located beside the newly renovated Toronto Union Station
This role is eligible for flexible working arrangements, allowing you to balance remote work with time in the office. Hudbay requires employees to spend roughly half of their work time in office.

Responsibilities

Requirements

Candidates need 2–3 years of end-to-end payroll processing experience and knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, statutory requirements, and provincial employment standards. Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required; SAP Payroll experience and a Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification or progress toward it are assets.
