Purpose of Role:

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the Instrumentation Technician is responsible for working with the electrical department to install, calibrate and troubleshoot field instrumentation.

Role Accountabilities:

Works to install, calibrate, and troubleshoot field instrumentation.
Provides controls system programming and process troubleshooting using ABB 800xA historical data collection system required.
Works with the electrical department to install and troubleshoot 600V variable speed drives and motors.
Troubleshoot and repair level, pressure, flow transmitters, air dryers, instrument air, plant air, and compressors.
Troubleshoot and calibrate pneumatics, process valving, actuators, and related components.
Utilize HART communicators and maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate process analyzers.
Install, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial communication systems, including fibre optics, CCTV, serial/fieldbus, ethernet, and wireless networks.
Read and accurately interpret P&IDs, schematics, and loop diagrams to troubleshoot systems and execute work safely.
Performs any other responsibilities related to the Instrumentation Technician role as required or as assigned by the department head.

Qualifications:

Red Seal Trade Certification in Instrumentation and Controls Technician,
3-5 Years Industrial Instrumentation experience is required.
Distributed Control System and PLC programming are considered an asset,
Experience with SAP or similar Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is considered an asset.
Familiarity with Toshiba Drives, ABB Software, Singer Valve, and Rotork Valve maintenance desirable,
Possess a valid Class 5/7N driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

Other skills:

High level of confidence and proficiency with computer systems, navigating industrial software, and adapting to new digital tools.
Good mathematical, scientific, and mechanical reasoning.
Manual dexterity.
Detail-oriented with sound decision-making skills.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and technical reading skills.
Self-motivated and desire to keep up to date with technological developments in the field.
Ability to support ongoing maintenance and operational needs.
Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and technical assistance.
Able to demonstrate proper lifting techniques to lift up to 25 kilograms
