Original job description

Hughes Collective is pleased to present an exciting opportunity on behalf of our client.

Position Title: Lead Electrical Engineer

Location: Northern Saskatchewan

Reporting to: to be confirmed

Schedule: Rotational, site-based

Our Client

Denison Mines is redefining what uranium mining can be. Their projects fuel the world’s demand for clean energy while proving that resource development can be innovative, responsible, and deeply connected to community.

Denison will be the first in Canada to adopt ISR mining for uranium, demonstrating that mining can be cleaner, lower-impact, and more sustainable. They continue to pioneer new technologies, minimize environmental impact, and build meaningful partnerships with local and regional communities.

What sets Denison apart is its culture: human, hands-on, hard-working, and high-performing. Leaders know their people, check in often, and roll up their sleeves alongside the team. Employees describe the workplace as welcoming and energetic, with a shared pride in doing things better.

Above all, Denison’s people know their work matters. They are driving climate solutions, advancing projects with integrity, and proving that mining can deliver not just energy; but a better future.

This is your chance to be part of building something

The Opportunity

Denison is advancing the Wheeler River Project through an important phase of engineering and project development. As the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls, helping ensure engineering work meets project requirements for safety, quality, cost and schedule.

The electrical scope will continue to develop through procurement, construction and commissioning. Denison needs an experienced engineering leader who can provide technical direction, coordinate work completed by engineering firms and vendors, and help ensure design decisions, specifications and technical reviews remain aligned as the project progresses.

Key Responsibilities

As the Lead Electrical Engineer you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

1. Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Leadership

Lead Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls engineering activities for the Wheeler River Project.
Provide technical direction across engineering strategy, design standards and project requirements.
Guide electrical engineering decisions throughout project development and help keep work aligned with approved technical requirements.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering and project personnel.
Act as Technical Authority when assigned.

2. Engineering Coordination & Technical Assurance

Coordinate electrical engineering activities with Denison’s Project Team, engineering contractors and technical partners.
Oversee engineering work completed by external engineering firms, vendors and service providers.
Review engineering deliverables and provide technical assurance against project requirements.
Work across disciplines to resolve technical issues and maintain alignment between engineering activities and broader project objectives.
Support engineering delivery against defined scope, schedule, cost, quality and value requirements.

3. Equipment, Procurement & Vendor Engineering

· Support the development and review of equipment specifications and associated technical requirements.

· Participate in procurement activities, vendor engineering and design review processes.

· Review vendor technical information and work with suppliers and engineering partners to address technical requirements and resolve issues.

· Maintain effective working relationships with equipment vendors, contractors and other technical stakeholders.

4. Risk & Technical Review

Participate in HAZOPs, risk assessments and other formal technical reviews.
Apply technical expertise to identify engineering risks and support sound project decisions.
Provide electrical engineering input as the Wheeler River Project progresses through engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

The Essentials (Hard Skills):

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan.
7+ years of progressive electrical engineering and/or engineering leadership experience.
Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering practices, standards, design processes, and technical assurance requirements.
Experience supporting electrical engineering activities across major project phases, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
Demonstrated experience with equipment specifications, procurement support, vendor engineering, and design review.
Experience coordinating engineering work completed by consultants, contractors, vendors, and service providers.
Experience participating in HAZOPs, risk assessments, and other formal technical reviews.
Mining, uranium, heavy industrial, or comparable project experience is considered an asset.

The Intangibles (Soft Skills):

Strong communicator who can translate technical information clearly across engineering disciplines, contractors, vendors, and project teams.
Confident technical leader who can provide direction, challenge assumptions, and support sound engineering decisions.
Resourceful problem solver who is comfortable working through issues without relying on heavily defined processes.
Collaborative working style with the ability to build productive relationships across internal teams and external engineering partners.
Adaptable and organized, with the ability to manage changing priorities while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, cost, and schedule.
Leadership approach grounded in accountability, mentorship, and a willingness to remain actively involved in the work.

What Our Client Offers

Competitive Compensation – Denison’s compensation is designed as a full package: base, annual bonus, equity awards, retirement contributions, and benefits. A total compensation package designed not just to recognize your expertise, but to reward the results you deliver as you shape exploration success.
Comprehensive Benefits – 100% employer-paid premiums for health, dental, life, and disability, plus a health spending account and generous paramedical coverage.
Flexible Retirement Support – Denison contributes from day one with no employee contribution required. Contribution levels may increase over time in accordance with the retirement plan. Take it as cash, invest through the group RRSP, or manage it independently.
Growth & Development – Work across a major uranium project as it progresses through engineering, construction and commissioning, with continued investment in professional development and technical leadership.
Culture of Doers – Work with a team where leaders roll up their sleeves, standards are high, and initiative is encouraged. Expect collaboration, approachability, and the freedom to solve problems in new ways.
Purpose & Pride – Be part of a company and team reshaping the future of clean energy, pioneering ISR mining in Canada, and building meaningful partnerships with local and regional communities in ways that set a new industry standard.
