Full Stack Developer

Halifax (Hybrid-2 days in office)

We have partnered with a Canadian-based marketing agency, part of an independent global network of agencies strategically located around the world, to provide clients with global reach, expertise, and capabilities.

They are looking for a Full Stack Developer with solid experience building and maintaining modern web applications across both frontend and backend technologies.

The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks, along with hands-on experience developing backend services, APIs, and integrations. They should be comfortable working across the full development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and designing solutions to development, testing, debugging, and deployment.

Experience working with CMS-driven websites and platforms, ideally WordPress or similar systems, is highly desirable. The candidate should also be comfortable working with REST and GraphQL APIs, data structures, and backend services.

You will collaborate closely with designers, developers, QA, and product teams to deliver scalable, maintainable, secure, and high-quality web solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Frontend Development

• Develop responsive, accessible, and high-quality user interfaces based on design and functional requirements.
• Build reusable components, layouts, templates, and frontend functionality.
• Develop and maintain applications using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Next.js.
• Write clean, modular, and maintainable HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Implement responsive and mobile-first designs across browsers and devices.
• Optimize frontend applications for performance, usability, and accessibility.
• Troubleshoot and resolve frontend issues across development, QA, and production environments.

Backend Development

• Develop and maintain backend services and application functionality using technologies such as Node.js and Express.
• Design, develop, and maintain REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Work with data structures, JSON payloads, API contracts, and backend integrations.
• Implement business logic, data processing, validation, error handling, and authentication where applicable.
• Integrate third-party services and APIs.
• Troubleshoot backend issues, including API responses, data processing, performance, and integration failures.
• Work with databases and understand basic data modeling, queries, and data relationships.

CMS & Web Platform Development

• Develop and maintain CMS-driven websites and applications, ideally using WordPress or similar platforms.
• Work with CMS templates, themes, reusable components, blocks, custom fields, and content structures.
• Support multi-site and multi-brand implementations.
• Contribute to headless CMS solutions and API-driven content when applicable.
• Develop reusable solutions and patterns that can be leveraged across multiple websites and applications.

Development & Delivery

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, testing, debugging, and deployment.
• Collaborate with designers, QA, product stakeholders, and other developers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and follow established coding standards and development practices.
• Use Git and version-control workflows effectively.
• Support CI/CD processes and structured release practices.
• Create and maintain technical documentation where required.
• Identify and resolve technical issues while considering maintainability, scalability, and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience in full stack or web application development.
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Next.js, or similar.
• Experience developing backend applications and services using Node.js, Express, or similar technologies.
• Experience developing and consuming REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Understanding of API design, contracts, JSON payloads, data structures, and integrations.
• Working knowledge of databases and basic data modeling.
• Experience with responsive and mobile-first web development.
• Experience working with a CMS, ideally WordPress or a similar platform.
• Understanding of CMS-driven development, including templates, reusable components, custom fields, blocks, and content structures.
• Familiarity with Git and standard version-control workflows.
• Understanding of web performance, accessibility, security, and SEO best practices.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional development environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
