Status: PNRK - Project of a Non-Recurring Kind

About Digital Learning At Humber

Digital Learning at Humber Polytechnic supports innovative, accessible, and engaging teaching and learning through the effective use of digital technologies. The department works collaboratively with faculty and academic partners to enhance learning experiences, strengthen digital teaching practices, and support the delivery of high-quality education across Humber.

About The Learning Management System Administrator Role

In addition to the Learning Management System, the Learning Management System Administrator supports other educational technology tools and may act as a backup administrator for key systems. The position provides business analysis and project management support for new and ongoing initiatives, working closely with Information Technology Services, Banner, and institutional stakeholders to ensure system alignment, integration, and successful project delivery. The Learning Management System Administrator also provides advanced (tier-three) support, advises on course builds, and evaluates emerging technologies for potential institutional adoption.

The successful candidate is an experienced educational technology administrator with strong technical expertise in platforms and technologies such as Blackboard Ultra, Blue Explorance, HTTP, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Python, MySQL, SASS, and NodeJS, along with a demonstrated ability to support complex learning technology environments.

The Learning Management System Administrator is an experienced administrator with current working knowledge of various ed tech and related tech tools including but not limited to Blackboard Ultra, Blue Explorance, HTTP, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Python, MySQL, SASS and NodeJS.

Key Duties

Support the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and overall performance of the Learning Management System (LMS).
Provide advanced technical support, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination to ensure LMS stability, reliability, and issue resolution.
Work closely with the Banner team and Information Technology Services to ensure systems remain aligned.
Create and maintain relevant databases and datasets.
Provide tier-three escalated support for faculty, staff and students for the Learning Management System and related third-party educational technologies.
Work with vendors to troubleshoot Learning Tools Interoperability and educational technology issues.

Education

3-year diploma/degree A diploma or degree related to educational technologies or computer software.
On-going upgrading and training relevant to the LMS and other ed tech tools supported in Innovative Learning

Experience/Skills

Five years: Related, progressively responsible experience in an Education Technology environment with evidence of effective project management and strong interpersonal skills.
Direct experience with the administration of a robust, mainstream LMS tool in a medium- to large institution.
Experience creating and maintaining databases using current authoring tools.
Demonstrated capacity for establishing and maintaining good working relationships across multiple departments in a large institution
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with the team environment.
Applied experience with Blackboard Ultra, Blue Explorance, HTTP, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Python, MySQL, SASS, NodeJS and other relevant tools.
