About the Manager, Enterprise Systems and Data Integration role:

Under the general direction of the Head, Finance, IT and Administration, the Manager, Enterprise Systems and Data Integration is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, maintenance, security and compliance of all enterprise applications and systems, including but not limited to guelphhumber.ca (external website) and my.guelphhumber.ca (internal portal), that support the University’s operations and processes. With a focus on security, reliability, usability, compatibility and accessibility, the incumbent will oversee the implementation of information systems policies and strategies at the university-wide corporate level.

The incumbent will provide leadership and direction to the Enterprise Systems and Data Integration team in the delivery of best-in-class information technology solutions to the campus community, in alignment with the short- and long-term goals of the university and those of the partner institutions: the University of Guelph and Humber Polytechnic. The incumbent is

responsible for ensuring the efficient use of technology resources, the improvement of information technology procedures and processes, and the planning, design and implementation of new custom corporate applications. The incumbent is also responsible for the operational management of enterprise applications, including integrating student and instructor data from the partners’ enterprise systems and applications, and providing technical support for UofGH corporate systems, related software infrastructure and multi-cloud applications, in support of academic operations.

What you bring to the role:

Education

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a specialized University Degree in Computer Science or Computer Programming or related discipline.

Experience and Skills:

5+ years of experience successfully managing IT projects from initiation through completion, including project planning, resource allocation, budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams.

Proven experience designing and leading scalable, secure enterprise web applications, including APIs, microservices, front-end/back-end frameworks, and application architecture.

Strong experience with enterprise data integration, data modelling, database design, and performance optimization across databases, APIs, flat files, and third-party applications.

Hands-on experience with relevant development technologies and platforms, including Python, HTML/CSS, SQL, PHP/Laravel, JavaScript, Drupal, Linux, Docker, and modern application frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).

Knowledge of data privacy, security, access controls, and applicable legislation and standards (e.g., FIPPA, PIPEDA, GDPR).

Solid understanding of Linux and Windows server infrastructure, including on-premises and cloud environments, capacity planning, patching, monitoring, and system administration.

Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing, and network security.

Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, including site architecture, permissions, governance, and Power Automate workflows.

Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and translate technical concepts into practical business solutions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare plans, analyses, recommendations, and technical documentation.
