The Opportunity:

Ensure that raw materials, in-process materials, soap bulk, packaging components, and finished soap bar products are sampled, inspected, tested, and documented according to established procedures, specifications, standard test methods, GMP requirements, and applicable quality standards. Provide routine QA/QC support to soap manufacturing and packaging operations and promptly escalate non-conforming or abnormal conditions.

Reason for Vacancy: This is an incremental headcount role that has been added to support the growth of the team.

Compensation: The target salary range for this position is $40,000 to $45,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and market considerations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform sampling, inspection, and routine physical and analytical testing of raw materials, in-process soap, packaging components, and finished goods according to approved procedures, specifications, and test methods.
Perform visual and physical inspections of soap bars and finished products, including appearance, colour, odour, dimensions, weight, packaging, labeling, and other specified quality requirements.
Operate approved laboratory and production testing equipment such as balances, pH meters, ovens, viscometers and other instruments as required by the applicable test method.
Conduct in-process quality inspections and verify manufacturing and packaging activities against approved procedures, specifications, packaging instructions, and quality requirements.
Review production and quality documentation for completeness, accuracy, traceability, and compliance with Good Documentation Practices.
Accurately record test results, calculations, observations, and inspection findings in applicable laboratory records, forms, systems, and controlled documentation.
Compare test and inspection results against approved specifications and immediately communicate out-of-specification or abnormal results to QA/QC Chemist/Manager.
Assist with identification, segregation, status labeling, and control of non-conforming materials and products; initiate or support NCRs, deviations, and OOS investigations as required.
Support investigations related to soap manufacturing, packaging defects, quality concerns, and customer complaints by providing samples, inspection results, testing information, photographs, and relevant documentation.
Maintain and control approved standards, master samples, reference samples, and retained samples as assigned.
Ensure laboratory equipment is within approved calibration or verification status prior to use and perform routine checks, cleaning, maintenance, and verification activities according to established procedures.
Maintain compliance with Health and Safety requirements, SOPs, Work Instructions, Test Methods, GMP, GLP, Good Documentation Practices, data integrity requirements, and regulatory requirements; participate in training, audits, continuous improvement activities, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

Diploma or degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Quality, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cosmetic Science, or a related scientific discipline is preferred.
Basic knowledge of GMP, GLP, Good Documentation Practices, and quality systems is preferred.
Good computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Detail oriented with strong organizational and multitasking skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-moving laboratory and manufacturing environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently with appropriate supervision or within a team environment.
Able to identify abnormal conditions or non-conforming results, escalate them appropriately, and exercise good judgment when supporting quality and manufacturing decisions.
