Original job description

The Continuous Improvement Manager will drive site-wide Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, quality, safety, and frontline teams to improve productivity, equipment reliability, quality, and employee engagement. You will serve as the site’s TPM subject-matter expert and change leader, helping advance a culture focused on zero injuries, zero defects, zero waste, and zero unplanned downtime. This individual will lead TPM deployment, coach employees at all levels, facilitate Kaizen and improvement projects, and ensure TPM efforts support key plant performance objectives.

Continuous Improvement Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead the deployment, execution, and sustainability of the site’s TPM and Lean manufacturing strategy.
  • Partner with plant leadership and cross-functional teams to identify and eliminate safety, quality, productivity, process, and equipment-related losses.
  • Drive continuous-improvement projects, Kaizen events, and structured problem-solving efforts that improve operational performance.
  • Establish TPM routines, governance, standard work, and performance measures to support sustainable implementation.
  • Track, analyze, and communicate key TPM, productivity, quality, downtime, and operational performance metrics.
  • Coach, train, and develop leaders, supervisors, technical teams, and frontline employees in TPM, Lean, loss elimination, and continuous-improvement methods.
  • Support a safe, clean, environmentally compliant workplace and ensure improvement activities prioritize risk reduction and accident prevention.
  • Work with maintenance, operations, engineering, and quality teams to improve equipment reliability, preventive practices, employee ownership, and defect elimination.
  • Build engagement and accountability for TPM across the plant by communicating priorities, recognizing team contributions, and helping teams overcome resistance to change.
  • Share best practices across the broader TPM network and benchmark site practices against world-class manufacturing standards.

Continuous Improvement Manager Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and French, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, or a related manufacturing improvement function.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting TPM, Lean, Kaizen, process-improvement, or equipment-reliability initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience influencing change in plant results, processes, employee behaviors, and organizational culture.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and build relationships with employees from the production floor through plant leadership.
  • Strong coaching, training, facilitation, presentation, and change-management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma concepts, including root-cause analysis, process improvement, data analysis, control charting, and structured problem solving.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret process, quality, productivity, and equipment-performance data.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead through resistance or ambiguity, and convert business goals into actionable improvement plans.
