Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer

You are an experienced engineer who is comfortable working across software development, infrastructure, and production operations.

You have strong Linux knowledge and meaningful software development experience, ideally with Java and PHP. You can read and modify application code, troubleshoot production issues, and take technically complex changes from development through testing, deployment, migration, and stable production operation.

You prefer automation over repetitive manual work and are comfortable owning complex technical projects independently.

Salary

The expected salary for this position is CAD150,000-CAD200,000, depending on experience.

Hours

40 hours per week. Working hours are flexible but need to roughly align with business hours in Pacific Time.

• Own the production readiness of major application changes.
• Design and improve CI/CD, packaging, and deployment systems.
• Plan and execute complex deployments and migrations.
• Modernize and containerize existing applications.
• Perform load, stress, and performance testing.
• Make Java and PHP changes required for scalability, reliability, or deployment.
• Improve rollback, recovery, configuration, and environment consistency.
• Maintain and modernize application runtimes, libraries, and dependencies.
• Improve observability and production troubleshooting.
• Contribute to cloud system design and disaster-recovery work.
• Help applications deploy and recover consistently across datacenter and AWS environments.
• Document systems, procedures, and technical decisions.
• Provide technical guidance to other engineers.
  

• Strong Linux and troubleshooting skills.
• Professional Java experience.
• Working knowledge of PHP or ability to work effectively in unfamiliar code.
• Experience with CI/CD and containers.
• Experience operating production systems.
• Understanding of networking, databases, and distributed systems.
