Role Summary:

Hydro One is seeking an intermediate-to-senior Power BI Platform Administrator to support the ongoing administration, governance, and sustainment of the organization's Microsoft Power BI environment. This role will help manage day-to-day Power BI operational requests, support incidents involving reports, dashboards, semantic models, refreshes, workspaces, access, and licensing, and help operationalize Power BI governance outcomes as the Data Analytics & AI team matures its BI platform strategy.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Power BI / Data Analytics & AI team, M365 Sustainment, Enterprise Architecture, business stakeholders, report owners, data owners, and application teams to ensure Power BI content is secure, supportable, well-governed, discoverable, and aligned with Hydro One’s data protection, access management, workspace governance, and reporting sustainment expectations.

This role is especially suited to someone who can troubleshoot Power BI reports and semantic models with limited documentation, understand workspace and dataset ownership issues, support users through access and refresh problems, and translate platform governance requirements into practical administrative and operational actions.

Required Experience

Hands-on experience administering or supporting Microsoft Power BI, including reports, dashboards, workspaces, semantic models, data refresh, sharing, and access management.
Experience troubleshooting Power BI reports, semantic models, refresh issues, data source connections, embedded reports, Power BI Desktop issues, and user access problems.
Understanding of Power BI workspace roles, ownership models, shared workspace administration, and risks associated with content published in personal workspaces.
Experience supporting business users, report authors, and report consumers, including explaining technical constraints, access models, and governance expectations.
Experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID security groups, SharePoint, Teams, and ServiceNow or similar request/intake processes.
Experience maintaining structured work items in Azure DevOps or a similar backlog/task-tracking platform.
Strong written communication skills for user guidance, support responses, governance communications, documentation updates, and incident follow-up.
Ability to work with business sponsors, report owners, data owners, platform administrators, Enterprise Architecture, security, privacy, and operations teams.

Preferred Experience

Experience with Power BI tenant administration, workspace governance, capacity monitoring, usage analytics, audit logs, endorsement/certification processes, sensitivity labels, or deployment pipelines.
Experience with data governance, data classification, secure sharing, data protection, and report lifecycle management.
Experience supporting migration from Tableau or other BI/reporting platforms into Power BI or another approved reporting platform.
Experience with Power BI gateways, on-premises data sources, SAP or enterprise data integrations, and data refresh troubleshooting.
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric concepts, Power BI Premium/Fabric capacity, Power BI Pro/PPU licensing, and cost-aware platform support.
Experience with Azure DevOps Boards, ServiceNow, backlog management, runbooks, and operational reporting.
Familiarity with Power Platform integrations, including Power BI visuals that interact with Power Automate or Power Apps.
Experience supporting report remediation, ownership transfer, decommissioning, or workspace rationalization programmes.

This role is a Hybrid in office role with a mandatory 2-days a week.
