What You’ll Be Contributing:
- Manage the full construction project lifecycle, from initial project planning through completion of construction.
- Meet with clients, architects, engineers, and other design personnel to establish project plans, budgets, and schedules.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, incorporating key activities, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables in collaboration with project teams.
- Coordinate construction project resources and monitor progress against established schedules, proactively identifying deviations, potential delays, and impacts to key milestones.
- Coordinate scheduling activities across contractors, trades, engineers, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of timelines, resources, and project priorities.
- Identify scheduling risks and constraints and work with project stakeholders to develop appropriate mitigation or recovery plans.
- Ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to specification.
- Act as a liaison between the client and project team members regarding changes, scheduling impacts, or project issues.
- Select, negotiate with, and coordinate the work of vendors, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Manage materials and delivery schedules in support of assigned projects.
- Track and report project progress against milestones, schedules, budgetary guidelines, and other performance indicators, providing regular progress updates and forecasts to management.
What Sets You Apart:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years of commercial and industrial construction project planning experience.
- Demonstrated project scheduling experience, including developing, maintaining, and monitoring detailed construction project schedules.
- Proficiency with project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of project milestones, dependencies, critical timelines, and schedule risk management. >> To confirm if “strong understanding” is appropriate
- Solid working knowledge of current construction regulations and plan reading.
- Ability to effectively manage and coordinate multiple project activities, priorities, and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to track project information and address issues proactively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a project team.
- Strong English oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with clients, contractors, trades, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation skills and proven customer orientation.
- PMP certification or relevant project management/scheduling certification is considered an asset.
- ASP Construction (Health & Safety in Construction Site) certification is an asset.
- An essential component of this position is regular and consistent business travel, mainly to the United States. It is a requirement of this position that the candidate satisfy the applicable criteria set by the US Immigration and Nationality Act for business travel to the United States, which criteria include, for example, the ability to demonstrate that they are a citizen or national of a country that is eligible for the Visa Waiver Program or are otherwise visa exempt.
