Original job description

Iceberg Finance is undergoing a major transformation. We are migrating our entire data platform to Microsoft Fabric and building our modern analytics ecosystem from the ground up. We are looking for a versatile BI Developer to join our Data Team and help shape this new platform.

This is not a maintenance role.

You will design real-world data pipelines, build semantic models that are actively used by business teams, and deliver Power BI solutions that drive strategic and operational decision-making. You will work with SQL, Python, Spark, and Power BI within a small, agile team where your ideas and contributions have a direct impact on the business.

Your Impact

  • Build and evolve our modern data platform.
  • Develop reliable ETL/ELT processes.
  • Design high-performance data models.
  • Deliver meaningful insights that support business decisions.
  • Automate and industrialize data workflows.
  • Collaborate effectively and maintain clear documentation.

What We're Looking For

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Integration, Data Engineering, or a related field.

Microsoft Fabric or Azure Data Ecosystem

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, or strong experience with Azure Synapse Analytics and/or Azure Data Factory, combined with a willingness to quickly become proficient in Fabric.

Power BI Expertise

  • Advanced knowledge of Power BI, including:
    • DAX
    • Power Query (M)
    • Semantic model design
    • Performance optimization

Core Technical Skills

  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Experience using Spark for data transformation and processing.

Engineering Practices

  • Comfortable working with Git, code reviews, and modern CI/CD workflows.

Profile

  • Curious, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset.
  • Ownership-oriented and capable of working independently.

Languages

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and French, as our documentation and business stakeholders operate in both languages.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in finance, consumer credit, lending, or fintech environments.
  • Knowledge of data governance and privacy compliance practices.
  • Experience with Power BI Embedded, Row-Level Security (RLS), or report automation.
  • Knowledge of Data Vault or dimensional modeling (Kimball methodology).

What We Offer

  • One remote workday per week following the probationary period, along with a strong commitment to work-life balance.
  • A technical environment being built from the ground up, featuring a modern technology stack and genuine opportunities to influence architecture decisions.
  • A small, experienced data team where learning happens quickly and your work is highly visible to senior leadership.
  • Competitive compensation, comprehensive group benefits, and support for professional development and continuous learning.
