Ideon Technologies uses the energy from supernova explosions in space to image deep beneath the Earth’s surface. The world pioneer in cosmic-ray muon tomography, Ideon has developed the REVEAL™ Subsurface Intelligence Platform®, comprising an advanced suite of proprietary data-generation hardware, software, physical AI, and multi-physics fusion that provide x-ray-like visibility deep underground and unlock the exponential power of integrated spatial data.
By transforming muon data into reliable 3D density maps, Ideon helps geologists identify, map, characterize, and monitor mineral deposits with confidence. This reduces risk and cost of traditional methods, while saving time, optimizing return, and minimizing environmental impact across the mining value chain. In turn, this is helping accelerate the world’s transition to low-impact mining and transform how companies recover the critical minerals required to power the global shift to clean energy – improving peoples’ lives and enhancing economic prosperity.
We are a dynamic tech scale-up of 80 employees (and growing!). We are a team that is entrepreneurial by nature and focused on doing things right to deliver great customer outcomes. And we are committed to seeking out the best brains and the most exceptional humans, wherever they come from and however they happen to be packaged.
The Role
We are seeking a Manufacturing Quality Specialist who will ensure our patented high-tech sensors meet the highest quality and reliability standards. This role blends quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) work with hands-on assembly support.
You will spend approximately 50-60% of your time directly supporting the manufacturing line and the remainder of your time on QA/QC activities.
You are not satisfied with good enough but rather strive for excellence with the systems you build and inspect. You are a detailed, hands-on person by nature, have excellent hand-eye coordination, and take pride in a job well done - especially when it involves complex components, intricate assembly, or catching a defect before it reaches the next step.
You will report to the Manager, Manufacturing and work in a team setting with Manufacturing professionals and Operations team members.
You will impact and drive Ideon’s objectives forward by focusing on the following activities:
- Carry out precise hand assembly work on the production line with great attention to detail and within required timelines.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and become familiar with part numbers.
- Troubleshoot sensor components using various measurement and testing equipment.
- Design and document the quality check process and results.
- Lead the development and implementation of Ideon’s Quality Management System (QMS) and integrate it into daily operations. Key elements include document and record control, non-conformance/CAPA, supplier quality, calibration, internal audits, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct and coordinate receiving inspection on incoming parts and materials, verifying against drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements.
- Perform in-process and final quality checks and inspections on parts and assemblies.
- Identify, document, and disposition non-conforming materials (NCRs), and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with Procurement on supplier quality: flag recurring defects, support supplier corrective actions, and provide input on approved supplier performance.
- Maintain and calibrate measurement and testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, calipers) in line with calibration schedules.
- Support internal quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Success in the role looks like:
- Assemble and inspect with high quality, meeting high standards to pass QC checks (90%+ pass).
- Maintain compliance with electro-static discharge (ESD) controls to prevent electronics damage.
- Conduct receiving inspection and catch non-conforming materials before they enter the production line.
- Develop and maintain a strong, collaborative working relationship with Procurement that resolves supplier quality issues efficiently.
- Incorporate the QMS in production and continuously improve quality practices by developing a quality-focused culture.
- Comply with health and safety standards.
Priorities in the first few months will include:
- Develop a strong understanding of Ideon’s safety, quality, and manufacturing processes, including product designs, manufacturing processes, and production workflows via existing SOPs and training materials. [Month 1]
- Gain hands-on experience building muon detectors and assist with QA/QC activities. [Month 1]
- Initiate the implementation of Ideon’s Quality Management System (QMS). [Month 2]
- Identify and address day-to-day quality issues, conduct investigations, and escalate to the relevant team. [Month 2]
- Fully own QA/QC activities, including in-line checks, CAPAs, receiving inspection, ESD controls, 5S, and others. [Month 3]
Qualifications
Must-haves – You’ll need the following to move forward in the hiring process (and be successful in the role).
- 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing QA/QC, careful assembly, and complex manufacturing.
- Technical training and/or diploma in a field such as quality, manufacturing, robotics, engineering, mechatronics, electronics, physics, or similar.
- Reliable, motivated, and capable of working to a defined schedule.
- Experience conducting thorough incoming inspections.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as dimensional drawings, measurement data, and specifications.
- Experience championing a health and safety culture; awareness of health and safety requirements (i.e. WHMIS, housekeeping).
- Experience using Microsoft tools.
- Enthusiasm for AI-enabled work with the critical thinking to question results and enhance as needed.
- Well-developed communication skills in English at a fluent or professional level; able to be assertive and respectful
- Legally able and currently documented to work full time hours in Canada
We also look for the following in all future Ideonians:
- Experience in or excitement for working in a tech scale-up; happy to wear a few hats and adjust on the fly.
- An ambitious, can-do attitude; you get that we’re doing challenging work and are excited to dive in.
- Enthusiastic and confident to take initiative and be adaptable in an agile, fast-paced environment.

- Great interpersonal skills; able to build relationships with colleagues, customers, and external stakeholders.
- Able to contribute something “extra” to our culture beyond the work that you do, like wowing people with your home-baked goods, sharing improv comedy skills, or organizing sports games.
Nice-to-haves – While it would be helpful if you had some of the experience below, we’re happy to train, coach, and share our experience.
- Experience working within a lean manufacturing setting.
- Experience using manufacturing resourcing software or quality management software (QMS/ MRP).
- Formal quality certification (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Technician/Inspector) or familiarity with ISO 9001.
