Helping our client in the Waterloo/Kitchener area with a Controller search. This is a full-time permanent role with benefits, bonus, and more. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of the Accounting and Finance functions are an organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with policies and regulations.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and oversee government filings, including HST and other regulatory reporting.
- Lead the annual budget, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis, providing insights to support business decisions.
- Develop and maintain financial controls, risk management practices, and compliance with applicable legislation.
- Partner with senior leadership to provide financial guidance, monitor KPIs, and support strategic planning.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, financial institutions, and other key service providers while leading and developing the finance team.
Qualifications
- CPA designation in good standing and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing an accounting or finance team.
- Strong experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Hands-on experience overseeing payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Knowledge of internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to mentor a high-performing team.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work full-time in an in-office environment.
