Job Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
- Manage payroll accounting activities by reconciling payroll-related accounts, analyzing accruals and variances, resolving discrepancies, and supporting Dayforce system improvements.
- Analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) by comparing standard costs to actual costs, investigating variances, and providing insight into key business drivers.
- Perform revenue recognition and unbilled revenue reconciliations, ensuring revenue is recognized accurately and in accordance with accounting policies.
- Partner with Project Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Project Managers to support reconciliations, revenue recognition, billing, and month-end activities.
- Ensure revenue and expenses are recorded in the appropriate accounting periods by monitoring project activity, identifying discrepancies, and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement by identifying automation opportunities, enhancing financial controls, streamlining month-end processes, and improving reporting capabilities.
Requirements
- CPA designation (or working toward CPA) is an asset
- Strong experience with month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Knowledge of payroll accounting, revenue recognition, accrual accounting, and cost accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex accounting issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
