  • Support Group Facilitation: Coordinate, host, and facilitate virtual or in-person peer support networks and patient education workshops.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Maintain and strengthen strategic relationships with regional healthcare providers, partner charities, and medical advisory committees across Canada.

2. Advocacy & Awareness Campaigns

  • Resource Development: Assist the ED and program staff in creating, updating, and distributing patient-facing resources, toolkits, and blog content.
  • Event Coordination: Lead the planning and logistics for national awareness weeks, patient forums, and small-scale community fundraisers.

3. Digital Communications & Outreach

  • Social Media & Newsletters: Manage the organization’s community-facing channels (e.g., e-newsletters, Facebook groups, Instagram) to keep stakeholders informed and interactive.
  • Storytelling: Conduct interviews and draft compelling profiles of patient experiences to highlight systemic health gaps and humanize our advocacy goals.

4. Database & Team Support

  • CRM Management: Maintain clean data entries for the patient/donor database, tracking engagement metrics and community feedback.
  • All-Hands Team Support: Collaborate actively with the other staff members on organizational priorities, grant reporting data, and operational needs as directed by the ED.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Education: Post-secondary education in Health Sciences, Communications, Social Work, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience working in a Canadian non-profit, community health sector, or patient support capacity.
  • Personal Skills: Outstanding active listening and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to support individuals navigating complex or sensitive health journeys.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex medical or policy concepts into plain, accessible language.
  • Tech Knowledgeable: Proficiency with basic computer platforms (G Suite, Microsoft Office), email marketing (e.g., Constant Contact, Mailchimp), and virtual meeting tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Slack).
  • Bilingualism: Proficiency in both English and French is considered a highly desirable asset for national reach.
