Overview
In-Common Laboratories (ICL) is recruiting for a permanent, full-time Laboratory Information System (LIS) Application Specialist to support the timely, accurate, and uninterrupted exchange of specimen test order information between ICL, its clients, and supplier laboratories.
The LIS Application Specialist provides day-to-day technical and application support for laboratory information systems, interfaces, and related clinical applications. The role works closely with internal users, clients, supplier laboratories, and other stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, support system functionality, and contribute to projects, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day administrative and technical support for LIS clinical applications, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
- Monitor, test, troubleshoot, and support interfaces between the LIS and other connected systems, including client and supplier connectivity.
- Support system maintenance, file updates, testing, upgrades, implementations, and new LIS functionality.
- Work with internal users, clients, supplier laboratories, and other stakeholders to investigate and resolve LIS-related questions and issues.
- Participate in projects, quality initiatives, system validation, and activities that support reliable and effective LIS operations.
- Maintain accurate system documentation, configurations, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
- Perform testing and validation activities to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of system information.
- Identify and communicate opportunities to improve LIS functionality, processes, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain and expand knowledge of LIS applications, interfaces, scripting, and related technologies to support operational requirements.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Completion of a university or college-level program in Medical Laboratory Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of clinical laboratory experience and knowledge
- Practical experience with a Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and/or other clinical laboratory applications.
- Experience supporting or troubleshooting system interfaces is preferred.
- Familiarity with Health Level Seven (HL7) standards and other transmission protocols is preferred.
- Familiarity with one or more laboratory or hospital information systems, such as EPIC, Cerner, Meditech, or McKesson, is an asset.
- Experience working with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
