General Labourer - Downstream - Day Shift

Industrial Metals (2011) is looking for a reliable, versatile, team-player to join our Downstream team.

The ideal candidate is someone who has a strong work ethic, takes initiative, is reliable, follows instructions and adheres to the company's Health & Safety rules. Please note that this is an entry level position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

• Identifying, picking and sorting various pieces of ferrous and/or non-ferrous metal
• Routine cleaning of work area and equipment as often as required
• Recognize and report operational problems of machines
• Operate equipment (when required and if certified) while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures
• Work in accordance with all company health and safety guidelines
• Assist in other areas of the business including the warehouse, yard, or shop as the need arises
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Previous experience in manufacturing or construction-like settings is considered an asset
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (working in all weather conditions, standing for long periods of time, lifting of up to 50lbs)
• Must be reliable and possess a good attendance record
• Quick and attentive learner
• Detail-oriented and consistent performer
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
• Working knowledge of safety standards
• Good English communication skills
• Demonstrate the ability to work professionally, respectfully with a positive attitude in a fast-paced working environment
• High level of personal integrity, must be trustworthy
• Strong work ethic and ability to complete work in a timely manner
• Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
