Original job description

This is a hybrid role based in downtown Toronto, requiring 1 to 3 days of on-site collaboration per week with flexibility for remote work for the remainder of your schedule.

About Infostrux:

Infostrux is one of North America’s fastest-growing data-focused consultancies. Within 18 months of our founding in 2021, Snowflake recognized us at the highest partnership tier - a reflection of our deep expertise and impact.

We help organizations unlock the value of their data by building modern, cloud-native platforms that power analytics, AI, and machine learning. Our work spans the modern data stack - covering data engineering, architecture, integration, and modelling - with Snowflake as one of our core partners.

From startups to Fortune 500s across industries like finance, health, gaming, and retail, we design and deliver scalable data solutions that enable faster, smarter, data-driven decisions. And as proud recipients of the Great Place to Work® Certification (2025), we are equally committed to fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, and growth for our people.

Job Summary:

As a Data Governance Architect at Infostrux, you will own the delivery of a data governance workstream from end to end, leading a team of data governance associates, specialists, and engineers and serving as the senior governance voice in front of the client. You will design the governance solution, run the delivery team day-to-day, and be accountable for the outcome.

Data governance works only when the business and technical sides are designed together, and this role spans both. On the advisory side, you will shape how the client's organization manages its data: defining processes, clarifying ownership and accountability, and leading the change management that makes new ways of working stick. On the technical side, you will guide the implementation that puts those decisions into practice, from data catalog rollout to data quality frameworks. You bring a complete view of the client's data platform through a governance lens, along with the project management and consulting skills to turn that view into a plan the client trusts and a team can deliver against.

You don't need to be the engineer building the pipelines, but you do need to understand the technology well enough to govern it. That means designing, specifying, and validating governance controls on the technical implementation, and working as a peer with data engineers rather than handing requirements over a wall. This role is for someone equally comfortable facilitating a conversation with business stakeholders and reviewing how access, lineage, and quality controls are actually built.

What you’ll get to do:

Leadership: Lead the governance workstream end-to-end, from discovery and current-state assessment through design, implementation, handover, and adoption. Manage the work of a team of data governance associates, specialists and engineers to achieve it.

Discovery & design: Run the technical discovery and own the design of the governance solution for the workstream.
Backlog ownership: Build the project backlog and own it through delivery; ensure tickets are written, groomed and estimated, and manage the team's workload.
Delivery team management: Direct the day-to-day work of team members; run engagement ceremonies (stand-ups, reviews, retros).
Quality of delivery: Accountable for implementation and for testing and validation of the workstream's deliverables.
Technical communications: Own architecture and design documentation for the workstream and the propagation of changes to the client and team.
Client leadership: Act as the senior governance voice in front of the client for the workstream.
Engagement support: Consulted by senior stakeholders on billing, engagement financials, status reporting and SoW change requests.
Mentorship: Mentor L0–L1 team members on their projects and provide input to their yearly career reviews.

What you’ll bring:

A passion for turning data into a trusted asset, with a strong understanding of data governance principles, best practices, and the ability to apply them in real-world, cross-functional environments.
Data Governance understanding of metadata management, data quality, master data mgmt. capabilities, and data governance tools.
Technical expertise across modern data ecosystems; data engineering working understanding of data platform architecture, access control, data quality control, data protection, data modelling, auditability and evidence.
Strong SQL and data analysis skills, allowing you to explore, profile, and validate data independently to support governance efforts and uncover root causes of data issues.
A collaborative and consultative mindset, with the ability to work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders, build trust, and guide them through governance adoption.
Excellent communication and documentation skills, enabling you to translate complex governance concepts into simple, clear language and processes that drive understanding and adoption.
A problem-solving attitude, proactively identifying data risks or gaps and creatively implementing practical, scalable solutions.
A commitment to continuous learning, staying up to date on new technologies and governance trends to keep your practices modern and effective.

Additional Assets:

Data Governance Certification (CIMP, CDS, etc.)
Data Management Certification (CDMP, etc.)
Understanding of platforms, infrastructure, ML, and so on
Administrator-level training and/or certification for Data Governance or Cataloging tools (Collibra, Atlan, Ataccama, etc.)
Bachelor's in Computer Science, IT, or Mathematics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Fluency in French

What we work with:

Data Catalog and Data Governance tools (Atlan, Ataccama, Collibra)
Modern Data Workflows (dbt, Airflow, Prefect, Dagster)
Programming Languages (Python, JavaScript, Kotlin or Java)
Big Data Platforms (Apache Spark, Presto, Amazon EMR)
Cloud Data Warehouses (Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Databricks Lakehouse, Azure Synapse)
Databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Vertica)
Container Management Systems (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)
Visual Analytics (Tableau, Looker, Power BI, Sigma)
Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (Amazon Sagemaker, Azure ML Studio)
Streaming Data Ingestion and Analytics (Amazon Kinesis, Apache Kafka)

What’s in it for you? We’re so glad you asked!

You will be surrounded by some of the brightest and most accomplished technical minds in our field. We are a team of very diverse and passionate professionals who love working together and solving problems by leveraging technology to help our customers. We pride ourselves in our outstanding work culture that is grounded in our 8 core values: trust, excellence, integrity, humility, accountability, responsibility, kindness, and fun. We value our people above all, and we provide a competitive compensation and benefits package to show our team our appreciation for everything they do:

We are a 100% remote organization* and our team members can work from the comfort of their homes, as well as anywhere abroad where they are entitled to work for up to 3 months per year.
We are strong believers of work-life integration and we offer a flexible schedule so that our team can manage their own workload and still be there for family and loved ones.
We offer 4 weeks of vacation annually, in addition to paid personal and sick days, so that our team can unwind, recharge, and enjoy time away for hobbies and family.
We provide a monthly bring-your-own-device allowance for each team member to choose the computer and phone of their preference (and it is theirs to keep afterwards).
We strongly believe in professional growth, so we are continuously educating ourselves with regular lunch & learns and industry events, and we invest in professional development and industry-based certifications for everyone in our team.
We constantly encourage everyone to step outside of their comfort zone and try new things, so we dedicate time each month to work on non-client work and collaborate on new innovative ideas, and we reward people who experiment and take risks.
We enjoy getting together, and we promote co-working days and social events in our main locations on a regular basis.

We are committed to creating a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, or age. Please note that you must be legally eligible to work in Canada to be considered for employment, and if selected, you must complete a criminal and credit background check to be hired. Compensation for this role depends on various factors, including seniority, skill level, and location. Compensation structures may also differ based on the type of engagement - contract rates vary from full-time employee salary ranges. Specific details will be discussed during the hiring process.

We look forward to getting to know you!
