Performance Engineer
Rate: $60–$73/hour
Duration: 12-month contract
Location: Mississauga, ON
Work Model: Hybrid, currently 2 days onsite
Hours: Monday–Friday, core business hours
Extension/Conversion: Possible
Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Performance Engineer to support enterprise technology initiatives. The role will focus on end-to-end performance engineering, including requirements, scripting, execution, analysis, troubleshooting and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute performance testing scripts and scenarios using JMeter
- Conduct large-scale performance, load and scalability testing
- Use Dynatrace for deep-dive monitoring, analysis and bottleneck identification
- Gather and assess non-functional requirements (NFRs)
- Analyze application, database and infrastructure performance
- Troubleshoot performance issues and recommend tuning and optimization strategies
- Partner with developers, architects and operations teams to drive performance improvements
- Produce clear performance analysis and reporting
Must-Have Qualifications
- Approximately 6+ years of Performance Testing/Engineering experience
- Strong hands-on JMeter expertise
- Strong Dynatrace monitoring and analysis experience
- End-to-end performance testing and engineering experience
- Strong understanding of NFRs, system architecture and technology stacks
- Hands-on performance tuning and optimization experience
- Previous experience within banking or financial services
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills

- Splunk, Datadog and log analysis
- SRE, observability or Chaos Engineering exposure
- Test data management and service virtualization
- Mountebank
- Client-side/end-user performance testing
- Previous experience within a large financial institution
Ideal Profile: A hands-on Performance Engineer with strong JMeter and Dynatrace expertise who can go beyond test execution to diagnose bottlenecks, troubleshoot complex performance issues and drive application and infrastructure optimization.
