Contract Duration: November 15, 2026 – November 14, 2027
Work Model: Hybrid – 2 days per week in office
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on QE Lead with strong experience in Python test automation, API testing, database testing, and CI/CD practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining automated testing solutions, improving test coverage, and supporting quality engineering across an Agile delivery environment.
This role requires someone who can work independently, take ownership of technical deliverables, and demonstrate substantial practical experience. Strong communication skills are essential, as the candidate must be able to clearly explain their technical approach, previous automation work, and troubleshooting experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Python.
- Perform API testing, including endpoint validation, response verification, and error handling.
- Conduct database testing using SQL queries, backend validation, and data integrity checks.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Use Git for source control, including commits, code pushes, merges, and collaboration.
- Identify, investigate, and document defects while working closely with development and Agile teams.
- Contribute to automation frameworks, testing strategies, and continuous quality improvements.
- Independently manage testing activities and communicate results, risks, and technical findings.
Required Qualifications
- 2–3+ years of hands-on Python automation experience.
- Experience developing and maintaining automated test scripts using Python.
- Practical experience with API testing and database/backend testing.
- Working knowledge of SQL, CI/CD pipelines, and Git.
- Understanding of software testing methodologies, defect management, and Agile delivery.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred: Experience with the Python Robo automation framework. Candidates with strong Python automation experience using other frameworks will also be considered, as Robo framework training can be provided.
Important Candidate Expectations
This is a hands-on technical position. Candidates must be able to demonstrate and clearly articulate their direct experience developing automation scripts, testing APIs, validating databases, and working with CI/CD pipelines.
Candidates with only theoretical knowledge, limited exposure, or experience exclusively executing pre-existing test scripts will not be suitable.
Strong communication is a critical requirement. Candidates should be comfortable answering detailed technical and scenario-based questions during the interview process.
Interview Process
- First round: One-hour Microsoft Teams panel interview.
- Second round: Potential in-person interview.
Additional Details: Hybrid work arrangement requiring two days per week in the office. Standard contractual furloughs apply, including approximately one week in August and two weeks in December.
