Senior Application Developer, .NET, Cloud & Data Platforms (12-Month Contract)

Toronto, ON (Waterloo also considered) | Hybrid, 2 days on site | Start: Late November

Rate: $60 to $74/hr (Inc.)

About the opportunity

Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution, is looking for a Senior Application Developer to join a data and digital engineering team. The team owns the applications behind enterprise data platforms and analytics, and is increasingly building AI-enabled solutions. You’ll be backfilling a senior engineer on critical platform and application work, with a lot of modernization, API development, and AI integration on the roadmap.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build, test, deploy, and support applications, APIs, and cloud-native solutions
  • Take part in application modernization, code reviews, and production support
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure and deployments
  • Support and improve modern data platforms (Snowflake and related tools) alongside data engineers
  • Apply security, access, monitoring, and governance controls across applications
  • Troubleshoot complex integration issues and deliver lasting fixes
  • Work with architects, product owners, and business stakeholders, and help set engineering best practices

Must-have

  • 5+ years in software development, cloud engineering, DevOps, or data engineering
  • 3+ years hands-on with C#, .NET / .NET Core, Python, SQL, and Blazor or a similar web framework
  • Proven track record building and supporting enterprise applications and APIs in production
  • Strong grasp of software architecture and cloud-native patterns
  • CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar
  • AWS experience (EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, IAM, CloudWatch)
  • Docker and Kubernetes / containerized deployments
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data platform

Nice-to-have

  • AI engineering, AI application development, or intelligent automation experience (highly regarded)
  • Self-service analytics, data products, or data marketplace experience
  • Financial services, insurance, or other regulated industry background
  • PostgreSQL or other relational databases
  • Power BI or Tableau
  • DevSecOps tools such as Snyk or Checkmarx
  • Mentoring or technical leadership in agile teams

Who thrives here

You understand requirements before designing solutions, ask sharp discovery questions, and spot improvements on your own. You communicate clearly, juggle multiple projects, and are comfortable giving recommendations and leading technical discussions. Curiosity and initiative matter as much as technical depth.

Details

  • Duration: 12 months, full time (Mon to Fri, 9 to 5)
  • Extension or conversion possible, based on business needs
  • Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field preferred. Equivalent training and experience will be considered
  • Background check required
  • Interview: Virtual round with the hiring manager, with an optional onsite technical round
