Senior Data Engineer (Azure, Databricks, PySpark) | Talent Community

Location: Greater Toronto Area, Ontario

Work arrangement: Hybrid (typically 4 days on site)

Engagement: Contract, with extension and conversion possible based on performance and business needs

About the opportunity:

Infotek Consulting Services Inc. is connecting senior data engineers with upcoming contract and contract-to-hire opportunities at leading Canadian financial institutions.

What you could be working on:

Leading the technical side of data migration and modernization projects, from design through deployment

Moving workloads and reporting from Azure Synapse to Azure Databricks and the lakehouse

Building and optimizing PySpark and SQL pipelines on Azure

Improving query performance and runtimes on large data sets

Documenting design options, data schemas and solutions in line with SDLC best practices

What we're looking for:

8+ years in data engineering, with strong hands-on Azure experience

PySpark (or strong Python) and advanced SQL

Azure Databricks, with Unity Catalog and Azure Synapse as strong assets

Azure Data Factory, ADLS and Delta Lake experience

Power BI and/or Tableau for reporting and data visualization

Comfort reading and writing technical documentation, including data schemas, metadata and ERDs

Banking or financial services experience is a strong asset

Degree or diploma in computer science, engineering, math or a related field

Clear communicator who is curious and adapts quickly to new tools

Responsibilities

Lead data migration and modernization projects, including moving workloads and reporting from Azure Synapse to Azure Databricks and lakehouse environments. Requirements

Requires 8+ years of data engineering experience, strong hands-on Azure experience, and proficiency in PySpark or Python and advanced SQL. Experience with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, ADLS, Delta Lake, reporting tools, and technical documentation is sought; financial services experience and a relevant degree or diploma are assets.
