Senior ETL Developer
Location: Ontario

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior ETL Developer to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and backend applications supporting data warehousing, business intelligence, and analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, Databricks, AWS, SQL, and ETL development, along with experience in data integration, data modeling, and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines for extracting, transforming, loading, and integrating data from various structured and semi-structured sources.
- Develop and optimize data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, and AWS services.
- Build and maintain data warehouse and business intelligence applications, ensuring scalability, performance, and data quality.
- Develop and maintain ETL scheduling, dependencies, and automated data processing workflows.
- Perform data cleansing, validation, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Write complex SQL queries and manage database operations and administration.
- Design data models for data warehouses and data marts.
- Translate technical specifications and business requirements into tested, reliable applications.
- Conduct unit testing, debugging, quality assurance, and post-implementation support.
- Maintain technical documentation, including source-to-target mappings, data models, architecture diagrams, and detailed design documents.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, technical teams, and subject matter experts throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Follow coding standards, source control practices, and established development methodologies.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure technologies, including:
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure SQL Database
- Azure Data Lake
- Power BI
- Hands-on experience with the Databricks platform.
- Experience with AWS technologies, including Amazon Aurora, Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), AWS Glue, and OpenSearch.
- Proven experience developing ETL processes for initial and recurring data loads across multiple data repositories.
- Experience implementing and maintaining ETL scheduling and dependency logic.
- Strong knowledge of data integration, data cleansing, and data analytics.
- Experience with data modeling and design principles for data warehouses and data marts.
- Strong SQL development skills, including complex queries and performance tuning.
- Experience with database management and administration.
- Experience using Git and source control strategies.
- Ability to gather, document, and validate business and technical requirements.
- Experience across the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, quality assurance, and delivery.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience designing Power BI dashboards, KPI reports, and scheduled or ad hoc reports.
- Experience with C#, APIs, serverless functions, or similar application development.
- Experience with PowerShell and other scripting languages.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards, including the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
- Experience with application deployment, technical documentation, and post-implementation support.
- Knowledge of information management principles, policies, and best practices.
Work Arrangement
This is an onsite contract opportunity requiring attendance at the designated Ontario office five days per week, Monday to Friday, during standard business hours.
