Senior Manager, Customer Segments & Growth (Partnerships & Operations)

Location: Toronto, ON

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - on-site Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday

Contract Duration: 2 years

Number of Positions: 1

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Customer Segments & Growth to lead strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and business growth initiatives within a priority customer segment.

Reporting to the Director, Segments & Growth, the successful candidate will develop and execute strategies that strengthen the organization's value proposition, expand strategic partner relationships, drive customer acquisition, and improve operational effectiveness.

This role focuses on partnership development, stakeholder relationship management, strategic execution, and business growth rather than traditional marketing. The successful candidate will take ownership of a key business portfolio, identify new growth opportunities, negotiate strategic partnerships, and translate business priorities into actionable strategies and measurable results.

The role also includes people leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the development of executive-level presentations and business cases to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic partnership and sponsorship initiatives that support customer acquisition, engagement, and business growth.
  • Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and establish relationships with new external partners aligned with business objectives and target customer segments.
  • Strengthen existing partnerships to identify additional acquisition opportunities and maximize business value.
  • Customize partnership strategies and negotiations to address the needs of specific customer segments, including newcomers to Canada.
  • Own and advance the growth strategy for the assigned business portfolio, translating strategic priorities into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Develop business cases, strategic recommendations, and executive presentations to communicate opportunities, support decision-making, and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives involving product, marketing, operations, risk, frontline teams, and other business partners.
  • Identify market trends, customer needs, competitive developments, and emerging opportunities to inform growth strategies.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess partnership effectiveness, customer acquisition, operational performance, and overall business impact.
  • Drive operational improvements that enhance customer experience, scalability, process efficiency, and portfolio performance.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of direct reports, fostering accountability, collaboration, and strong execution.
  • Communicate complex business concepts through clear, compelling PowerPoint presentations and executive-level storytelling materials.

Required Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of relevant experience in financial services, banking, strategic partnerships, business development, strategy, or business operations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, negotiating, and managing strategic partnerships and sponsorship relationships.
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, relationship-building, and influencing skills, including experience engaging senior-level stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute business strategies, build business cases, and deliver measurable growth outcomes.
  • Experience taking ownership of a business portfolio, strategic initiative, or key business pillar.
  • Strong understanding of customer segmentation and segment-driven growth strategies.
  • Experience working within large, complex organizations and navigating cross-functional stakeholder environments.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills, including the ability to independently develop polished PowerPoint decks and compelling business narratives.
  • Demonstrated maturity, accountability, and the ability to lead and influence a team effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Senior Manager experience.
  • Previous people leadership experience, including managing and developing direct reports.
  • Experience in banking or financial services, particularly in customer acquisition, segment growth, or partnership-led business development.
  • Experience supporting newcomer-focused customer acquisition or other specialized customer segments.
  • An MBA or Master's degree.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a commercially minded, strategic leader who combines strong partnership negotiation skills with hands-on execution and a track record of delivering tangible business results. They are comfortable building new external relationships, maximizing existing partnerships, influencing senior stakeholders, and taking ownership of a business growth agenda.

Candidates with purely marketing-focused backgrounds, without substantial experience in strategic partnerships, stakeholder relationship management, business strategy, and execution, will not be the primary focus for this role.
