As a member of the Engineering team, the mechanical desginer participates in product design, development, and manufacturing support activities. The role supports the Engineering Manager in various assignments related to Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Sales while contributing to continuous improvement of products and processes.
On a Daily Basis You Will
- Support engineering projects as part of a coordinated product design team.
- Develop and revise mechanical and electromechanical components, subsystems, and accessories in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.
- Prepare and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), part numbers, and controlled engineering documentation.
- Support new product development, sustaining engineering, and product improvement initiatives.
- Apply established drafting practices, tolerancing requirements, manufacturing standards, and internal procedures.
- Participate in design reviews and verify drawing accuracy, fit, function, manufacturability, and BOM completeness.
- Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), drawing revisions, and document control activities.
- Assist with prototype builds, product testing, validation activities, and implementation of design changes.
- Work closely with Manufacturing and Quality teams to resolve technical issues related to drawings, fabrication, assembly, tolerances, and products.
- Collaborate with suppliers to obtain technical information and verify component suitability and availability.
- Identify and support product improvements related to safety, reliability, manufacturability, lead time, and cost reduction.
- Support Sales and Marketing by providing technical product information and documentation.
- Participate in project meetings, continuous improvement initiatives, Lean, 5S, Health & Safety, and ISO 9001 activities.
Profil De Candidat Recherché
You are the person we are looking for if you have:
- Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, product development, or manufacturing.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD software, including part modelling, assemblies, and production drawings.
- Experience preparing drawings, BOMs, engineering documentation, and supporting controlled design changes.
- Working knowledge of mechanical design, fabrication, machining, welding, tolerancing, and assembly processes.
- Experience supporting new product development, manufacturing, sustaining engineering, or product improvement activities.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a manufacturing environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Assets:
- Experience with hazardous location products, certification requirements, or regulated industrial products.
- Experience with PDM systems, Engineering Change Orders, ISO 9001, or related document control processes.
- Experience with electrical components, motors, controls, suppliers, prototype builds, or product testing.
- C.Tech., C.E.T., E.I.T., or equivalent professional designation.
Work takes place on-site, primarily in an office environment with regular time spent in R&D testing and production areas. Required to enter the manufacturing workshop where there may be exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and elevated noise levels.
