About Us

Innovative Stonecraft Inc. is a Saskatchewan-based manufacturer of architectural stone and brick veneer products, supplying builders, contractors, and distributors across Western Canada.

As we continue to grow, we are investing in new product development, mold-making capabilities, manufacturing technology, and process improvements.

We are looking for a motivated, creative, and hands-on individual to join our team as a Junior Process Improvement & Mold Development Technician.

About the Position

This is a hands-on technical position combining mold making, product development, manufacturing process improvement, and quality-control support.

You will spend much of your time working directly on the production floor and in our mold-making area, using tools and equipment to create new molds, develop product samples, improve existing products, and help make our manufacturing processes more efficient.

This is not a desk-based position. We are looking for someone who enjoys building things, working with their hands, experimenting with materials, and solving practical problems.

Key ResponsibilitiesMold Making & Product Development

  • Assist with fabricating and improving molds used to manufacture architectural stone and brick veneer products.
  • Create master patterns, prototypes, and samples for new stone profiles and textures.
  • Work with rubber molding materials, casting techniques, and fabrication tools.
  • Experiment with new product shapes, surface textures, finishes, and designs.
  • Identify and address mold-related defects and opportunities to improve product consistency.
  • Maintain mold-making tools, materials, and work areas.
  • Create, organize, and maintain a product sample inventory and library.

Manufacturing & Process Improvement

  • Work alongside production employees to identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Assist with implementing improvements to reduce material waste, downtime, and production inefficiencies.
  • Participate in production trials, product testing, and process improvement projects.
  • Help improve product handling, equipment utilization, and workflow efficiency.
  • Assist with developing and standardizing production procedures and work instructions.

Quality Control & Production Systems

  • Assist with product inspections, defect tracking, and quality-control checks.
  • Collect and organize production information, including output, downtime, defects, and material usage.
  • Document mold development activities, product trials, and process improvements.
  • Help develop simple tracking and reporting tools using Excel, Zoho, or similar software.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality-control records.

Qualifications

Education

Postsecondary education in one of the following fields or a related discipline is preferred:

  • Carpentry, Cabinetmaking, or Construction Technology
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Manufacturing or Industrial Technology
  • Industrial Design or Product Design
  • Fine Arts, Sculpture, or Model Making
  • Other related technical, creative, or fabrication programs

Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on mechanical or fabrication aptitude.
  • Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work with measurements, shapes, and textures.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and willingness to experiment with new ideas.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel or similar software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a manufacturing team.
  • Willingness to learn new manufacturing processes and techniques.

The following would be assets, but are not required:

  • Experience with mold making, concrete casting, silicone, polyurethane rubber, or resins.
  • Experience in carpentry, woodworking, sculpting, model making, or fabrication.
  • Familiarity with CAD, 3D printing, or prototype development.
  • Previous manufacturing, product development, or quality-control experience.

Previous mold-making experience is not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
