About the Role
We're looking for an IT Manager to lead our technology infrastructure and data security as we scale. This is a hands-on role: you'll be building the function from the ground up, doing the day-to-day IT work yourself in the early days while you build and lead the team around you. You'll work across a multisite environment (Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, Calgary, United States, Europe, and Asia) spanning different time zones, and partner closely with engineering to support our Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead a small, talented IT support and systems team.
- Define, plan, and manage IT infrastructure, cloud services, and local office networks, scaling for fast growth.
- Secure valuable intellectual property.
- Support EDA tool environments and HPC clusters.
- Manage IT budgets, vendor contracts, and hardware/software licensing.
- Support ERP rollout, integration, customizations and maintenance.
- Respond to incoming IT helpdesk support requests and provide timely resolution to issues.
- Define, maintain and enforce strong cybersecurity, backup, and data protection compliance policies. Provide ongoing training and support to staff members.
- Work across SharePoint, MS365, Epicor Kinetics and Salesforce environments.
Additional Hands-On Responsibilities (Until the Team Is Built Out)
- Deploy new user accounts and laptops.
- Troubleshoot Windows 365 Cloud PC connection and performance issues.
- Reset passwords and manage account access.
- Assign licenses and guide users on setup.
- Track and resolve support tickets via our helpdesk system.
- Manage hardware refreshes and repairs and coordinate with hardware suppliers on warranty issues and purchasing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- 8+ years of IT experience, including at least 3 years in a management role.
- Experience in a start-up or high-tech engineering and/or high growth environment.
- Experience with secure Windows Cloud Environments, Windows Server, Windows 10/11, MS365, ERPs (Epicor preferred).
- Strong cybersecurity, backup, and data protection compliance experience
- Ability and experience successfully assessing an organization’s IT needs and building a team to deliver on those requirements.
- Knowledge of EDA workflows, Linux cluster management, Mac OS, and SQL databases is highly desirable.

Additional Information
This posting is for a newly created position.
The expected compensation range for this position is CAD$90,000 - $115,000 annually. Actual compensation offered for this position will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, level, experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
