Backend Developer
Insight Global is hiring a Backend Developer for a leading retail organization to support the continued development and enhancement of its finance integration platform. This individual will work within an established Kotlin codebase, building integrations across finance, order management, and retail systems, as well as third-party services. The role will help ensure invoice data remains accurate, traceable, and adaptable to evolving requirements across multiple countries.
Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and support inbound and outbound invoice integrations within an existing Kotlin environment.
- Create data mappings, validation processes, error-handling mechanisms, and interfaces supporting APIs and event-driven architecture, including Kafka.
- Work within AWS environments and support reliable infrastructure deployment, monitoring, and ongoing operations.
- Develop automated tests and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Tax, Security, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into reliable and auditable technical solutions.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot and Codex, across coding, testing, and documentation while reviewing and validating generated outputs.
Required Qualifications
- 8–10+ years of software engineering experience.
- Professional experience developing and maintaining applications using Kotlin.
- Experience incorporating AI-assisted coding tools into the software development lifecycle.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and infrastructure deployment using Terraform.
- Strong experience with APIs, event-driven systems, data transformation, and troubleshooting distributed applications.
- Strong understanding of automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, application security, monitoring, and observability.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools, with the ability to appropriately validate generated code and protect sensitive information.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with Kafka.
- Background integrating ERP, order-management, or retail transaction systems.
- Familiarity with electronic invoicing, tax reporting, financial controls, or multi-country compliance requirements.

Pay Range : 55-75$/hr CAD
