JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support the successful delivery of a large-scale data centre project as it progresses through its final stages of construction, commissioning, and transition to operations. Reporting to the project leadership team, the Construction Manager will oversee the General Contractor (GC), monitor project performance, and ensure that safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives are achieved. This role will focus on driving progress against critical contractual milestones, identifying and resolving issues, and ensuring the project is delivered safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will bring a strong construction management background, ideally with experience on the General Contractor side and exposure to data centres, mission-critical facilities, or other technically complex construction projects. This is a fast-paced, delivery-focused opportunity suited to a proactive professional who thrives on solving problems, making timely decisions, and working collaboratively across construction, commissioning, and operations teams. Construction Management & Schedule Oversight • Oversee and hold the General Contractor accountable for construction progress, schedule adherence, and delivery against contractual milestones. • Monitor project activities and progress, identifying schedule risks, potential delays, and critical-path issues. • Proactively identify risks to project delivery and drive timely resolution to maintain the overall project schedule. • Support the review and assessment of change orders, evaluating their potential impact on project scope, schedule, and cost. • Monitor construction activities to ensure alignment with project requirements and established delivery objectives. Health, Safety & Quality • Promote and maintain a safe working environment across the project site. • Hold the General Contractor accountable for maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work site. • Participate in biweekly safety management walks, identifying potential hazards and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented. • Monitor construction quality and ensure work is completed in accordance with project specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable standards. • Identify deficiencies, escalate concerns, and work with the General Contractor to drive timely corrective action. Cost & Contract Administration • Review monthly payment applications submitted by the General Contractor and subcontractors. • Support the assessment and validation of payment requests against completed work and contractual requirements. • Participate in contract administration meetings and coordinate the resolution of outstanding commercial or contractual issues. • Review change orders and assess potential cost and schedule implications. • Monitor project performance and escalate emerging risks that could affect successful delivery. Commissioning & Operational Handover • Support the project as it moves through final construction activities, commissioning, and system activation. • Work collaboratively with commissioning teams and operations stakeholders to facilitate a smooth transition from construction to operations. • Help resolve issues that arise during final testing, commissioning, and handover activities. • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and the General Contractor to address outstanding items and maintain progress toward operational readiness. • Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to support activities beyond traditional construction management responsibilities when required to achieve project objectives. Stakeholder Management & Issue Resolution • Build effective working relationships with the General Contractor, internal project teams, commissioning personnel, and operations stakeholders. • Proactively identify challenges, make timely decisions, and drive practical solutions in a time-sensitive environment. • Communicate project risks, schedule concerns, and outstanding issues clearly to relevant stakeholders. • Maintain accountability and momentum during the final stages of project delivery. Skills: • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time. • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods. • Knowledge of computer software, such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio etc.
