Platform Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Platform Engineer to join a leading retail organization and support the evolution of critical digital commerce platforms. This team is responsible for powering core business capabilities across Order, Guest, and Product domains that support large-scale customer experiences.

This role is ideal for a backend-focused engineer who enjoys working with complex distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and modern cloud technologies. Rather than building brand-new greenfield applications, you will focus on understanding existing platforms, business workflows, and domain services, then implementing thoughtful enhancements that improve scalability, maintainability, and business value.

The team is also exploring how AI-assisted development tools and emerging AI technologies can improve engineering productivity and platform capabilities.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design, build, and support backend services and business logic supporting Order, Guest, and Product domains
• Develop and enhance asynchronous, event-driven systems using publish-subscribe messaging patterns
• Build and maintain APIs, integrations, and cloud-based backend services
• Support platform enhancements required for international market expansion initiatives
• Learn and navigate existing systems to identify opportunities for modernization and improvement
• Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews
• Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools and practices where appropriate to improve development workflows
• Implement automated testing strategies and contribute to CI/CD best practices
• Troubleshoot production issues and deliver sustainable long-term solutions
• Contribute to ongoing platform modernization and continuous improvement initiatives
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and support continuous delivery practices

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong experience developing applications with C# and .NET
• Experience building and supporting backend services and distributed systems
• Experience with AWS cloud technologies
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture
• Experience with asynchronous messaging and event-driven systems
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production support
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Kiro, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies
• Ability to quickly understand existing systems and contribute meaningful platform enhancements

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience with retail, commerce, customer, order, guest, or product platforms
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging technologies
• Experience modernizing legacy applications
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into products or engineering workflows
• Experience supporting global or multi-region platform implementations
• Platform engineering, developer enablement, or internal tooling experience
• Technical leadership or mentorship experience
