This role requires strong analytical and software development skills, as well as the ability to investigate test failures and collaborate with embedded software developers and system engineers.

RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Analyze software and system requirements to identify test objectives, conditions, and expected results.
  • Understand embedded-system architecture, interfaces, operating modes, and expected behaviour.
  • Develop test plans, test procedures, test cases, and requirement traceability.
  • Design and implement reusable and maintainable automated test software using Python and object-oriented programming.
  • Develop test frameworks, libraries, utilities, simulators, and supporting tools.
  • Integrate automated tests into continuous integration pipelines.
  • Configure test execution, reporting, logging, and result collection within the automated pipeline.
  • Execute tests, analyze results, investigate failures, and identify whether issues originate from the test environment, test software, or product under test.
  • Work closely with software developers, system engineers, and validation teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in requirements, design, code, test-plan, and test-result reviews.
  • Maintain test documentation and follow established software-development and quality processes.
  • Estimate work, communicate progress, and deliver assigned activities within schedule.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A University degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other relevant disciplines, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong Python development skills, including object-oriented programming.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience designing automated test software or test frameworks.
  • Ability to analyze detailed software requirements and translate them into test plans and test cases.
  • Ability to understand and validate embedded-system behaviour.
  • Experience with source-control and software-development practices.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into Jenkins or a similar CI/CD environment.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary technical teams.

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience testing embedded Linux or real-time embedded systems.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or software-in-the-loop test environments.
  • Knowledge of embedded communication interfaces or protocols.
  • Experience with pytest or other Python test frameworks.
  • Experience with Git, test reporting tools, and requirements-management tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices.
  • Experience working in a regulated or high-reliability engineering environment.
