About the Role
Insight Global is recruiting a Test Technician / Operator on behalf of a leading Aerospace & Defence organization in Ottawa, Ontario.
This position is ideal for a technically minded individual who enjoys combining hands-on mechanical work with test monitoring, troubleshooting, and data analysis. The successful candidate will support aerospace engine testing operations by installing test hardware, preparing test equipment, monitoring engine performance, analyzing test results, and helping determine appropriate actions during and after test execution.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career technicians looking to build experience within a highly specialized aerospace testing environment.
Shift Schedule
- 2 weeks Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- 2 weeks Afternoon Shift: 3:30 PM - 11:00 PM
Initial training/transition period:
- 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, or
- 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Install engines, test hardware, instrumentation, and support equipment into test facilities
- Prepare test cells, test beds, and associated instrumentation for engine testing
- Operate altitude and engine testing equipment in accordance with defined procedures
- Monitor engine and facility performance throughout test execution
- Interpret test parameters and identify abnormal conditions or trends
- Analyze test data and determine appropriate actions based on test results
- Communicate findings and observations to engineering and technical teams
- Troubleshoot mechanical, instrumentation, and facility-related issues
- Record and document test data accurately and completely
- Support facility maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives
- Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures
Required Qualifications
Technical diploma in:
- Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME)
- Aviation Technology
- Mechanical Technology
- Aerospace Technology
- Electromechanical Technology
- Or a related technical discipline
1-2 years of experience in:
- Test environments
- Industrial operations
- Mechanical or technical roles
- Manufacturing environments
- Control room operations
Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Required Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience installing or assembling hardware, instrumentation, or test equipment
- Ability to monitor, interpret, and react to test data for extended periods
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to make decisions based on engine or system test results
- Basic understanding of:
Mechanical systems
Hydraulic systems
Pneumatic systems
- Strong computer skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn
- Strong safety awareness and ability to follow strict testing procedures
Compensation:
$23/hr to $30/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and AD&D.
