About the Opportunity
Insight Global is partnering with a leading aerospace manufacturer in Longueuil, QC to hire a Tooling Designer. This team plays a critical role in supporting production by designing custom tooling solutions used for assembly, alignment, lifting, fixturing, and manufacturing of complex aerospace components.
This is an excellent opportunity for early-career engineers and designers looking to build their experience in a high-tech aerospace environment while working directly with manufacturing, engineering, and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design custom manufacturing tooling, fixtures, lifting devices, alignment tools, and assembly aids using CATIA or other 3D CAD software.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather tooling requirements and develop practical design solutions.
- Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Participate in design reviews and implement feedback from engineering and production teams.
- Support the development of new tooling concepts for upcoming manufacturing programs.
- Work closely with tooling shops and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet operational and production requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, tooling standardization, and process optimization efforts.
Required Qualifications
- DEC in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related technical discipline OR a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 1 to 5 years of experience in:
Mechanical Design
Tooling Design
Product Design
Manufacturing Engineering
Related engineering environments
- Experience with 3D CAD software (CATIA preferred; SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, NX, or other platforms also considered).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Fluent French communication skills.
- Intermediate English communication skills.
Compensation:
$30/hr to $38/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and AD&D. Employees will also have access to a registered retirement savings account with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
