Human Resources Intern, Adams Lake, British Columbia

Ready to take what you’re learning in school and put it to work? At Interfor, we’re looking for future leaders who are curious, hands-on, and eager to learn. You’ll work alongside experienced forestry professionals, build practical skills, and gain a better understanding of how planning, fieldwork, safety, and responsible forest management support our woodlands operations. If you enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, and learning how forests are managed from planning through operations, this could be the summer opportunity for you!

This is an on-site internship with an anticipated start date in May. Ideally, you’ll be available for a 4- to 8-month term.

This position is based at our Adams Lake location and includes travel to our Castlegar and Grand Forks operations. Reliable transportation is required.

We offer competitive compensation for interns, including:

Salaries starting from $3,350 per month based on year in school
Temporary living and relocation assistance as needed

What You’ll Do

Support full-cycle recruitment and onboarding, including job postings, resume screening, interview coordination, reference checks, offer documentation, new hire packages, and orientations.
Maintain employee records and HR systems, ensuring information is accurate, organized, and handled confidentially.
Provide administrative support across employee relations, attendance, performance management, accommodations, return-to-work, benefits, and payroll activities.
Assist employees and supervisors with general HR inquiries, connecting them with the appropriate HR team member when needed.
Support HR reporting and analytics by compiling and tracking information such as recruitment activity, turnover, absenteeism, and training participation.
Help coordinate training, employee engagement, recognition, wellness initiatives, and site events.
Assist with workplace investigations, policy and procedure updates, HR communications, presentations, and compliance-related initiatives.
Collaborate with HR, Operations, Payroll, Safety, and other teams on regional and site projects focused on employee experience, continuous improvement, and business needs.

What You Offer

You are currently enrolled or recently graduated from a recognized university or college program in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
You are organized, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
You communicate clearly and professionally, and enjoy working with employees, leaders, and candidates.
You demonstrate sound judgment, discretion, and care when handling confidential or sensitive information.
You have strong attention to detail and are comfortable working with data, records, and documentation.
You are comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with formulas, pivot tables, or reporting is an asset.
You are curious, adaptable, and interested in learning about HR in an operational environment.
